Ted O. Austin, age 87 of Chilhowee, Missouri, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, January 9th, 2024, at the Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri.
Ted Olan Austin was born on September 2, 1936, the son of Roy and Emma (Wade) Austin. He graduated from Clinton High School and then attended the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri. Ted served in the U.S. Army as a PFC from 1957-1959 during the Korean War. He married Norma Darlene Martin in 1959 and was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Shawnee Mound.
Ted loved the farm; it was his life, his work and passion. He enjoyed spending time at the Kingsville Livestock Auction, he spent countless days there. He was always looking for a bargain. He was an engineer and sometimes he was an entrepreneur. He had a sweet tooth for homemade pie, cheesecake and ice cream.
Preceding him in death is his parents Roy and Emma Austin, and his only sibling Jack Austin and his wife Darlene.
He is survived by his son Steven (Barbie) Austin, his grandchildren, Sarah (Jason) McNally and Alex Austin of Clinton, Missouri, one great grandson, Elijah McNally, his sister-in-law Bobbi Austin, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held January 18, 2024 at the Vansant-Mills Chapel, Clinton, MO with Rev. Kent McSpadden officiating. Special music included “How Great Thou Art and Amazing Grace.” The casket bearers were David Martin, Chuck Chaffin, Brandan Austin, Tim Murphy, Brent Hinton and Clark Harris. Interment followed in Englewood Cemetery, Clinton, MO. Military honors were under the direction of the VFW Post #1894
Funeral services were under the direction of Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton, MO.
