Ransom Monroe Hills, age 85, of Deepwater, Missouri passed away peacefully in the care of loving family and friends on Thursday, October 26, 2023 in Liberty, Missouri.
He was the first born of James Ransom and Dora Ellen. He is preceded in death by his parents, and wife Debra Elaine & siblings, Michael Dean, Ernest Eugene, and Margery Ellen.
Ransom married twice during his life. In 1955, he married Beverly Lisette Roberts. They had 4 children: James Edward, Charles Monroe, Richard Dean, & Beverly Ann. In 1974, he married Debra Elaine Woods. They had one child, Brian Courtney.
He leaves behind fourteen grandchildren. Jason Hills, Jeremy Hills, Jacob Hills, Joshua Hills, Jameson Hills, Amanda Hills, Barbie Welling, Bennie Taylor, Nathan Stevenson, Travis Hills, Xander Hills, Sarah Hills, Allanah Hills, & Ian Hills. And ten great-grandchildren: Chase Hills, Alexis Hills, Brooklyn Hills, Jayden Hills, Ava Hills, Wyatt Hills, Annabelle Hills, Cadence Robinson, Silas Stevenson and Evelyn Mae Hills.
Ransom, as an older brother, was nicknamed Duke, for a reason. Being the eldest, he was very protective of his siblings. He had a long career as a mechanic with Trans World Airlines where he retired in 1993. Once retired, he then moved back to Deepwater MO where he enjoyed the outdoors. Being on Truman Lake boating & fishing until deer season. As a hobbyist, he was both a collector and self-taught painter (with some help from Bob Ross!).
Funeral services were held November 2, 2023 at the Vansant-Mills Chapel, Clinton with Rev. David Mills officiating. Special music included “I Can Only Imagine, Amazing Grace, Because He Lives and What a Day That Will Be.” The casket bearers were Jason Hills, Eric Krueger, Daniel Fleener, Jeremy Hills, Jamie Hills and Gary Hills. Interment was in Englewood Cemetery, Clinton, MO.
Services were under the direction of Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton, MO.
