Marilyn Ruth Baugh, age 90, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away Friday, November 3, 2023, in Mt. Vernon, Missouri. She was born September 1, 1933, in Cape Fair, Missouri, the daughter of Ward and Opal (Wilson) Swearingen. Marilyn was the seventh child of nine and would tell you she had a fun, loving childhood and would not trade it for the world. Marilyn was a 1951 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School and married Harold Arthur Baugh on January 31, 1953. They were married 64 years before his passing on October 15, 2017.
Marilyn is survived by her faithful fur baby Maxine and four children, Roberta Ruth (Jim) Louderbaugh of Buffalo, Missouri, Rebecca Lynn Bohannan of Ft. Worth, Texas, Barbara Jean (John) Munier of Brush, Colorado, and Sam Ward Baugh of Clinton, Missouri; five grandchildren, Scott, Korina, Robert, Sheridan and Derek; ten great-grandchildren; one brother, Jack (Dolores) Swearingen of Crane, Missouri; one sister, Kaye (Dale) Scott of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, along with several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; son-in-law, James Clark Bohannan; three sisters, Jean Gambrell, Barbara Spilman, and Evelyn Colley; three brothers, Alvin, Jerald and Roland Swearingen; three sisters-in-law, Arlene Swearingen, Yvonne Swearingen, and Buck Swearingen; three brothers-in-laws, Bill Gambrell, Jim Spilman and Alan Byron Colley; three nieces, Barbara Swearingen, Jolene Swearingen Burton and Donna Kay Gambrell Alexander and two nephews, Jason Bell and Clarence Colley.
Marilyn and Harold along with Sam, their son, operated Clinton Mower and Saw Shop in Clinton, Missouri for over 40 years. Marilyn was baptized in high school and was a member of Mt. Vernon Church of Christ and Clinton Church of Christ.
Marilyn enjoyed snow skiing, sewing, spending time with her grandchildren, and was an avid cyclist. Her favorite rides were on the Katy Trail, participating in ten Multiple Sclerosis 150-mile rides, Bike Across Missouri and numerous other organized rides. She was a proud breast cancer survivor of over 40 years supporting several charities to find a cure for cancer.
Marilyn will be remembered for her devotion to God, a supportive mother with her gentle, kind, loving ways and encouraging words. Marilyn was a special lady and will be forever missed by all who knew and loved her.
A visitation be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 9, 2023, in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at the Mt. Vernon IOOF Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Mt. Vernon FFA in memory of Jason Bell or the Mt. Vernon Church of Christ in care of the funeral home.
