Lady Cards Tennis Splits With Harrisonville, Center In Last Week

Clinton tennis traveled to Harrisonville last Thursday and came home with a 7-2 loss, but not without some strong matches being played.
Lady Cards senior Makenna Beasley showed physical toughness on the court as she bounced from a tough doubles loss and fought to win her #4 Rank Singles match 8-5. Her opponent kept her moving and Beasley's athleticism was evident on the court as spectators witnessed her ability to get to difficult shots across the court!
Senior Emily Barnes playing #5 Rank took over her match for Clinton and turned an easy match for her opponent into an hour fight! Barnes was down 3-8 and came back to tie it up 8-8! Thus, playing a 7 point tie breaker! In addition to mental toughness and long volleys, Barnes played point to point. She rallied with strong serves and an ace to win the last point with a tie break score of 7-5.
On Monday, the Lady Cardinals swept Center, 9-0 and also picked up a 4-0 shutout for the JV squad.
All matches were strong wins with all players playing tough defense and consistent tennis! Carley Combs playing #1 Rank had the fight of the season coming back to tie 8-8 with four ace serves in the match and then winning 7-5 in tie breaker. The calls were tough line shots and mentally and physically exhausting!
Clinton hosted Warrensburg for Senior Night on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, the girls will be at the Belton Invitational Tournament and they'll return home on Thursday for their final matches of the year in Clinton when they host Harrisonville.
The Lady Cards will lace it up in the Smith-Cotton Invitational Tournament on Friday.
