Have I Got A Line For You!

Well, the President tried to reassure all of us that we need to stay vigilant and we’ll be safe and not let fear dictate our response to increased shootings like the one at an Atlanta Wal-Mart last Wednesday and the shooting spree in New York that killed three. That’s reassuring for the hunter, but not the ducks. It’s no longer what’s good for America. It’s only what’s good for the individual. If we had this attitude 81 years ago, we would be speaking Japanese or German right now. Just look at all the Japanese and German cars on the road and we won the war.

A cartel leader and hit man who videotaped his torture sessions vanished from a Florida prison. Edgar Valdez Villarreal worked for El-Chapo and the Sinaloa Cartel. Maybe he has Jeffrey Espstein’s list or something similar. That’s a get out of jail, stay out of jail or get you out of jail NOW card. Our prisons are becoming third world. Those who have info against the government “mysteriously” die and the worst criminals get let out the back door and “nobody saw nuthin.” All we have left is ourselves. I bet this is how Russian citizens felt right before the Bolshevik revolution.

Speaking of prison, there’s a lot of hullabaloo over the swap of Russian Viktor Bout for Britney Griner over Marine veteran Paul Whelan. It wasn’t wrong to try and bring her home, but the President sure has his priorities wrong. You bring home the Marine. Britney actually did what they locked her up for. I don’t think she deserved the 9 year sentence, but you have to respect the law in other countries. We traded a killer for an athlete who took a knee during our National Anthem. Whelan is a person willing to give his life for our flag and country. Seems to me President Biden has taken a knee as well.

Everything that’s going on reminds me of a movie, some years back, when people were hanging out of windows and hollering, “We’re mad as hell and we’re not going to take it anymore.” I have a feeling most Americans feel that way no matter what side of politics they’re on.

Aunt Jane told me about a Warsaw Christmas parade. They had some colorful ones during the Depression to get folks in town. One of the stunts was a Model T race down Main Street where one contestant lost his steering wheel. And there was also a performance by P.O. Proper from Humansville. P.O. was a noted marksman and able to ride a bicycle and hit thrown targets with .22 rifle at the same time. In 1939 the Chamber had a mule race and it was won by 90 year old Mintie Davis. So there you have it, a little bit of time travel courtesy of JWB.

Enough of this rackety rambling. Blessings to you.
