George Alan Anthony, 82, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, February 19, 2023. George was born to Lowell Herbert Anthony and Bonnie Bell Price Anthony on July 30, 1940 in Linton, IN. On October 8, 1959, George was inducted into the United States Air Force where he became a 3361st Instructor Squadron. He received an Honorable Discharge on August 28, 1963. During his hitch in the service, he met his wife, Carolyn J Todd. They were married in Old Shawnee Town, IL on April 2, 1961. Their first daughter, Tamolyn J, arrived February 18, 1962. Followed by their second daughter, Candess K, on November 29, 1965. When George left the service, he was employed at McDonnell Douglas aircraft working on the F-14 Tomcat and the Hound Dog 77. Seeking greater challenges, he obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics from Southern Illinois University in 1969. He then parlayed that degree into a 33 year long career with State Farm Insurance. One of George’s passions throughout his life was the Masonic Lodge. He held the position of Master at the Charity Zeredatha Lodge No 189 AF & AM in Saint Joseph, and was a member in good standing at the the Clinton No 548 AF& AM Lodge. His greatest achievement was obtaining the rank of 33rd Degree mason, the highest rank bestowed on a member of the organization. He also enjoyed amateur radio. He became an Amateur Extra during the 1980’s with the call sign KE0V. His daughter followed in his footsteps becoming a HAM with the call KC0VYR. George and CJ retired to their home on Truman Lake in July of 2003 where George was able to indulge his love of golf. They spent many happy years in retirement overlooking the lake they both loved. George is survived by his wife of nearly 62 years, CJ; his oldest daughter, Tamolyn J (preferred name Jessie); youngest daughter, Candess (Candi); Candi’s husband of 33 years, Rob Southall; George’s sister Carol; and many other beloved friends and family.
