4th Inning Burst Enough To Lead Sherwood Past CHS Softball
Sherwood Varsity Marksmen defeated CHS Softball 11-0 on Tuesday at Sherwood High School thanks in part to 10 runs in the fourth inning. Sherwood Varsity Marksmen were the first to get on the board in the third when Adie Weil singled, scoring one run. Sherwood Varsity Marksmen scored 10 runs on seven hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Kalli Gariepy singled, scoring one run, Lanee Mackenzie drew a walk, scoring one run, Avery Dalton singled, scoring one run, Weil singled, scoring two runs, Kadynce Hill singled, scoring two runs, and Tori Sullins tripled, scoring three runs. Kennedy Diggs earned the win for Sherwood Varsity Marksmen. The starting pitcher gave up zero hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out 12 and walking three. Briley Wishard took the loss for CHS Softball. They went four innings, allowing 11 runs (10 earned) on 10 hits, striking out six and walking three. Sherwood Varsity Marksmen collected 10 hits in the game. Weil, Sullins, and Hill each collected two hits for Sherwood Varsity Marksmen. Weil drove the middle of the lineup, leading Sherwood Varsity Marksmen with three runs batted in. They went 2-for-3 on the day.

Game Goes Down To The Wire As Lady Cards Lose To Smith-Cotton
CHS Softball fell to Smith-Cotton Varsity Tigers 8-7 on Thursday at Sedalia on the final play of the game. The game was tied at seven in the bottom of the seventh when Eleanor Holiway singled, scoring one run. CHS Softball fell behind by four runs in the sixth inning, but then tried to fight back. CHS Softball closed the gap by scoring on an error, an error, a single, a sacrifice bunt, and a single. A home run to center field by Miley Rathmann put Smith-Cotton Varsity Tigers on the board in the bottom of the third. CHS Softball flipped the game on its head in the top of the seventh, scoring six runs on five hits to take a 7-5 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Briley Wishard that drove in two. Smith-Cotton Varsity Tigers took the lead in the bottom of the seventh inning after Kylah Hawkins doubled, Grace West singled, and Holiway singled, each scoring one run. Addison Snyder earned the win for Smith-Cotton Varsity Tigers. The starting pitcher gave up eight hits and seven runs (one earned) over seven innings, striking out 10 and walking one. Wishard took the loss for CHS Softball. They went six innings, giving up eight runs (six earned) on 12 hits, striking out five and walking five. Ava Potter and Carmen Bohannan each collected two hits for CHS Softball. Wishard drove the middle of the lineup, leading CHS Softball with two runs batted in. The pitcher went 1-for-4 on the day. CHS Softball stole four bases in the game. Smith-Cotton Varsity Tigers piled up 12 hits in the game. Holiway went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Smith-Cotton Varsity Tigers in hits. Rathmann drove the middle of the lineup, leading Smith-Cotton Varsity Tigers with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-4 on the day. Hawkins and Savannah Ditzfeld each collected multiple hits for Smith-Cotton Varsity Tigers. Jennifer Bowman led Smith-Cotton Varsity Tigers with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying five walks for the game.
