Clinton Soccer Beginning To Find Their Way To Wins

The Clinton soccer team has picked up wins in three of their last four matches and are beginning to find their groove as the season marches on.
In matches during the Clinton Cup Invitational Tournament that got underway on September 4, the Cardinals blanked Green Ridge by a score of 2-0.
Just a couple of days later, the Clinton offense rolled and defense remained stingy, shutting out the Paseo Academy with a lopsided 7-0 score.
Last Saturday, the defense was still on point, but the offense of the Cardinals fell just short as they fell to St. Paul by way of a 2-1 final.

Last Monday, the Cardinals got back in the win column as they flip-flopped that last score in a match against Lone Jack that came down to the wire.
Lone Jack led 1-0 throughout the first half, but the Cardinals tied things up ten minutes into the second half when Evan Mantonya played a ball up to Eli Griffey who crossed it in where Jake Mendenhall got his head on it and put it past the Mules goalie.
With the game tied at 1-1 at the end of regulation and both overtime periods, the Cards pulled out a hard-earned victory on a 5-4 penalty kick margin.
Jackson Woodland, Mendenhall, Howerton, Griffey and Landon Robinson all converted kicks.
Robinson came up with the save in goal to lock up the win for the Cardinals.
It was a hard fought and physical game," Cardinals coach Zach Adams said. "I am very proud of the team for fighting through the adversity and doing a great job keeping their composure."
The Cardinals played at Pleasant Hill on Tuesday and will be at the Bolivar Liberator Class this Thursday through Saturday.
Their next home contest will be next Tuesday when they host Harrisonville.
