Calhoun Community Church
Welcome to the Good News from Calhoun Community Church. Our church family gathers at 9:30 a.m. for pre- church food and fellowship. We use this special time for visiting one with another, welcoming guests as they arrive for Worship, and signing cards of encouragement for our card ministry. Tucker McNeely rang the church bell to call our church families to worship.
We extend our sympathy and Christian love to the family and friends of Louise Brownfield and Robert Booyer who passed into the arms of Jesus this week; We continue to pray for many who continue to recover from various ailments , our military men and women and their families, as well as others in service jobs that we depend upon daily. Everyone in our nation should be praying for a return to normalcy. We pray for guidance as we continue to grow, here on the southeast corner of the Calhoun square. Lord we are thankful for spring like weather and pray for some much needed moisture.
Joys to celebrate: All were pleased for the cookies shared by Carol Lane with pre-church fellowship this morning and the cut-up Bunny cake by Debbie Joy. We were provided with gorgeous Easter morning to gather and worship the Lord. We were pleasantly surprised this morning upon arriving for church. Jeremy Reed and Shelby Bicknell had setup a separate sound system, Shelby’s guitar, Jeremy’s drums, and his mother Jan’s keyboard. Each pew had grass nests of Easter eggs, provided by Sue Lesmeister; a very attractive addition to our Easter Service. Savannah and Tucker McNeely lit the altar candles. Special music: “I’ll Fly Away” and “The Light House”, by Jan and Jerry Reed; our thanks to Reeds and Shelby for sharing. Bibles were presented to Savannah, Tucker, Mason, and Kynslee this morning following each child reciting a Bible verse in front of our church families. Our first Easter Communion was taken as Calhoun Community Church. Steve Siercks expressed his joy in being able to tour the Amish greenhouses and purchase his first tomato plants. The Colwell’s shared the joy of their trip to the Round Top Texas Antique Show and Sale and the beauty of the blue bonnets, Indian paint brush, and other wild flowers in bloom at this time along the Texas highways. The visit included time with the boys and families. It’s great to go but equally pleasant to be home .
Rev. Jackson Short’s message title was “We Serve a Risen Savior.” We come together as people from different generations and different situations, receiving blessings from Jesus, and passing them on to each other. Our Christian job is being children of God serving and helping each other. The message we present is that of the Lord.
Following services we all went out into the city hall lawn to enjoy watching the children hunt the 250 Easter Eggs hidden there by Harold Dump. While the children were busy; the Easter Bunny made an appearance and photos were taken.
We are an impromptu and diverse group here at Calhoun Community; we try very hard to encourage each other, have a little fun, and glorify the Lord at the same time. Should you be looking for a place to feel the love of God, come by for a visit, dress as you are comfortable, bring the youngsters and be prepared to receive a blessing for the effort? We are a Concerned and Praying non-denominational Church. We will be blessed by your presence.

This is the very day, God has acted.
Today, we will rejoice and be glad.
We know the message that God send to all people.
God’s peace, preached by Jesus Christ, is available to all through the Lord of life.
The one who lived among us,
Doing good and healing all,
Was crucified, dead and buried.
But God raised him on the third day.
This very day, God has acted.
Today, we will rejoice and be glad!
CALL TO PRAYER
Risen Jesus, how we long to proclaim the good news we have received—you are risen, the tomb is empty, and you are present with your friends. Remind us not to look for you in the places where we lost you—our grief, our failure the death all around us. For you have been raised. You are not trapped in some tomb.
Help us proclaim your resurrection with confidence this day. Flawed as we are, help us perceive how deeply we are loved for your grace and mercy never fail. Hear now the silent prayers of your children.
PASTORAL PRAYER/LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

He is risen! He is risen indeed! On Easter Sunday, Pastor Pat Findley continued his message series, ‘Were You There?’, by reflecting on who was responsible for Jesus’ death on the cross. The Roman soldiers placed Him on the cross, at Pilate’s order, as the crowd demanded. They cried for Jesus’ crucifixion because they couldn’t understand or accept His claims of equality with God. The religious leaders persuaded the riot. Judas, Jesus’ disciple, betrayed Him by leading the soldiers to Him, while Satan was at work in the background. The lying Satan comes to steal, kill, and destroy anyone reflecting the goodness of God. The whole story of Easter is of Jesus being delivered: to the cross, for our sins, and for our justification. The great news is that God so loved us all that He sacrificed Jesus. It was God’s plan all along for Jesus, who knew no sin, to die for our sins. We cannot have salvation without His death AND resurrection, paying our sin debt in full. His empty tomb means that our hope is full. The ultimate cause of His death was God’s love for us. All the wrath we deserve fell on Jesus. Therefore, all we need to do to be saved is to call on Him and realize that He died for our sins. Were you there? Your sin was. Salvation is available for all those who choose to receive and surrender to Him! Let us live for Him because He lives in us!

Easter Sunday; the day of resurrection. Let us all shout Alleluia for we serve a risen, living Savior! Our choir blessed us with a beautiful Easter Cantata arranged by Don Wyrtzen, directed by Mark Smith and accompanied by Gay Smith.
The sewing of hygiene products for young ladies in Africa continues by the Presbyterian Women’s group. If you wish to help with this project the needed supplies are in the foyer. Presbyterian Women will meet for their monthly meeting Friday, April 1at 1:30 pm in Fellowship Hall. They will be studying the lesson “Lydia Encounters Jesus in Worship”. The main idea of the lesson is that baptism connects us to God and the community of faith. All women of the church are invited to attend.
Community Choir practice continues each Thursday evening from 6:30 – 8:00 pm here in Fellowship Hall. The choir will be in concert April 18 at the High School Performing Arts Center at 7:00 pm. Make plans to attend and enjoy the beautiful music created by this group of talented singers.

Mt. Calvary Apostolic Pentecostal
John 12:12-13.
Palm branches are a symbol of victory, peace, and eternal life. The people celebrated Jesus, believing he was the king they were looking for.
He did not come the way they believed a king should come. Though they came to see Jesus, everyone had a different reason for being there.
In Isaiah 53 it speaks about the things Jesus would go through. He was despised and rejected of men.
Isa 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
John 19:14.
The attitude of the people changed from the week before. Jesus had to go through these things including the crucifixion.
John 19:30-31.
They wanted this business of the crucifixion to be over with and removed before the Sabbath. People do all manner of things all week then get right before Sunday to give the appearance that they have done nothing.
Their Sabbath was on a Saturday. Our Sabbath is Sunday, that is the first day of the risen Christ.
John 20:9-10.
They thought it was over. If they didn’t know scripture, they wouldn’t know what this is about.
When he was placed in the tomb, they wanted a stone placed there so no one could steal the body. However, the tomb was found empty.
Jesus was born for the purpose if dying for us. He went to Calvary. We don’t celebrate Easter for the pagan holiday. We celebrate It because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
There are many Pagan holidays that fall on the same day as our holidays that we celebrate God. When Paul was on Mars Hill, he saw various signs naming pagan gods.
He saw a sign that said the unknown God. Paul taught them about the unknown God, Jesus. We have to tell people about God on Christmas and Easter. There are some out there that need to know that Jesus died in the cross, rose victorious in his resurrection.
1 Thessalonians 4:13.
Our hope is in the resurrection of Jesus and eternal life. We thank God for defeating the devil. We thank God for this day. God bless.

All Christians at times question their faith. Do we really believe? If so, why do we continue to sin? Here on earth, all believers are both sinners and saints. The good news is: If you are concerned about your sins and worry your faith may not be as strong as it should be, fear not! Only those who have more than enough faith worry about such things. Praise God!

What a wonderful Easter Sunday to worship our Risen Savior. Clint Keeney rang the church bell. Mrs. Julia Klinefelter led in the congregational singing with Mrs. Dixie Collins playing piano and Rebecca Sowell playing the violin. We rejoiced with Daryl Sloan on his 89th birthday. We were blessed to have 104 year old Fern Kelsay in attendance. Randy Vogt and Clint Keeney collected the offering.
Interim Pastor Steve Sowell read scripture from John 11:25-26 and John 20: 1-9.
We were blessed to have Joshua Sowell, who will be our full time Pastor, to bring the message. (John 11: 25 “I am the resurrection and the life, He who believes in me will live, even though he dies..”) Because Christ died and was resurrected for us, we too can be resurrected to new life with Him by our faith. This brings us hope and confidence to look forward to a glorious eternal life in Heaven. Have a blessed week.

Valley Center United
We are an open and affirming church and welcome all to come and worship with us next Sunday morning at 9 am.
Valley Center began today at 6 am by participating in the sunrise service with several local churches and singing in the community choir. Afterwards, our “in-house cooks” made a delicious hearty breakfast feast for all to enjoy! An Easter Egg Hunt was a hit with our children and our bigger kids as well!! We send our love and prayers of healing to a dear church member who had surgery this past week.
Our sermon this morning was, “We are victorious through the Resurrection of our Savior, Christ Jesus”.
We came here to our church, on this Easter morning to worship God. We are the body of Christ, filled with life, energy and the ability to live out who we are by being his true followers.
Because of the death, crucifiction and resurrection of Jesus, we are changed and hope is empowered. Death has been defeated and we are given victory over sin.
Christ said, “I am the Resurrection and the Life. He who believes in me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in me, shall never die”. The message of the empty tomb tells us there is an everlasting and certain hope of life eternal for all who believe. Hallelujah, he is risen!
