Calhoun Community Church
Welcome to the Good News from Calhoun Community Church, our church family gathers at 9:30 a.m. for pre- church food and fellowship. We use this special time for visiting one with another, welcoming Guests as they arrive for Worship, and signing cards of encouragement for our card ministry. Tucker McNeely rang the church bell at 9:45 a.m. to call our community to worship.
We extend our sympathy and Christian love to the family and friends of Alvin Davis who passed into the arms of Jesus recently. Others on our prayer list include Amber and Patrick Dittmer and baby daughter, Barbara Sales, Millie Redding, Eddie Roth and family, Rev. Jackson and Sondra Short, Patty Dump, and Dave Burson. Special prayers for the lady; who fell from her trailer and had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance as we were leaving the Snow Flake Sale Saturday evening. We continue to pray for our military men and women and their families, as well as others in service jobs that we depend upon daily. We pray for guidance as we continue to grow, here on the southeast corner of the Calhoun square.
Joys to celebrate: Tucker McNeely lit the altar candles this morning during our first hymn. He also is our usher when the time comes for collecting our tithes and offering. We are so proud of him. Several from here participated in the Snow Flake Garage Sale in Clinton Saturday. It’s always up-lifting to laugh and visit with friends and acquaintances that we haven’t seen lately. It was a special day to just get out and shake the winter dust off. Special music today was “A Closer Walk With Thee,” by our Ms. Verna. We are always pleased to have her sing. It was a joy to have Mischele Schaelow from Vienna, Mo. join us for worship this morning. Mrs. Schaelow transports folk from the Amish Community and happened to be in our area. We were so excited to see the sun shining this morning as we came out of church. Thought for the week: So many people are lonely today. Every time we give someone else a lift, we get a lift. Compassion is one healing, uplifting gift that God gives to each of us to use. Warm compassion can break the chains that bind us and transform a cold, indifferent world into a warm loving one.
Should you be looking for a new place to grow your faith come by for a visit, dress as you are comfortable, bring the youngsters and be prepared to receive a blessing for your effort. We are a Concerned and Praying non-denominational Church. We will be blessed by your presence.

Drakes Chapel UMC
The price we pay for being able to worship in our lovely little chapel in the majestic country side is when old man winter rears his ugly head and does a number on these poor country roads. It makes things a little interesting getting to church, but we are faithful.
Pastor Margie’s message today came from Mark 1: 21-28. “A Lesson about Authority”. Jesus demonstrated his authority as a young man. Pouring out the words of God and the authority given to Him from His Father. He gives that same authority to us, to be His disciples and spread the love and grace to those who have yet come to know our Lord and Savior. Jesus has given us the gifts to share ….the authority to do so in a world that badly needs to know His love.
Pastor Margie announced that our Lenten study would be “The Third Day” by Tom Berlin. Details to follow. Margie wants to make sure that everyone who wishes to attend has an opportunity to do so.
As the new year unfolds we find Easter is upon us. As we look to the cross, we need to find ways to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our community. It doesn’t always have to be a big thing. Sometimes a small act of kindness turns out to be a big blessing.
If you are looking for a place to worship, our hearts and doors are open to you. We are located 5 miles east of Clinton off 52 hwy. Look for the sign on the highway. Our worship begins at 9:00. If you can’t join us in person follow us on Facebook live. Look for Margie Briggs.

First Baptist
On Sunday, First Baptist Church honored it’s Celebrate Recovery ministry for nearly 14 years of providing Christ-centered recovery! From fear to anxiety, addiction to loving someone struggling with addiction, divorce to depression, Celebrate Recovery is a safe place for all kinds of hurts, habits, or hangups. In a sermon titled “Laborers Wanted”, Pastor Pat Findley emphasized that we are all broken and living in a broken world. We are not as free as the Lord intends for us to be, and we are called to meet people where they are, outside of the church. Matthew 9:37 says “Then He said to the disciples, the harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few”. We have a mission, and we must see people as Jesus does. Let us pray to allow Him to mobilize us to be the workers He has called us to be. Whether you are an addict or not, we’re all prone to sin. Let us be alert, with a heart for Jesus to respond! The harvest is ready!
Celebrate Recovery is on Tuesday evenings at 5:30 pm at the Vansant location for anyone with hurts, habits, or hangups. GriefShare is offered every Thursday, beginning February 1st at 6 pm, for help and encouragement after the death of a loved one. Worship service times are 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. and Sunday School is offered at 8:15 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. For more information and upcoming events, please visit www.firstbaptistclinton.church or find us on Facebook at ‘First Baptist Church – Clinton, MO’.
We invite those without a church home to join us in worship of our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ. First Baptist Church exists to fulfill the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) by loving people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

First Presbyterian
We serve a God of compassion. He loves the world so much so that he sent his only son, Jesus Christ, to save us from our sins. In Him we may truly live lives of peace and hope. Listen with your heart and your ears so you may experience God’s presence in your daily life. Rev. Nancy Gillard used Proverbs 3: 5 – 6 as the scriptural text for her message Wrong Roads and the Right Places. Gay Smith blessed us by playing the anthem “Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing” arranged by John Carter.
The collection of donated pudding and gelatin mixes for The Samaritan Center will continue through January and February. Presbyterian Women held a work day where they cut strips of old tee shirts and braided them into jump ropes. These ropes will be for the yearly donation to the Samaritan’s Purse Christmas Shoe Boxes for children around the world. Last year with diligent work they were able to complete and donate a total of 112 ropes. You can be a part of this mission work by finding the needed supplies and directions in the church foyer.
Practice for the newly formed community choir being led by Mark and Gay Smith will be Thursday, February 1, 2024 in Fellowship Hall at First Presbyterian Church. The response has been promising. If interested please visit website clintoncommunitychoir@gmail.com.
Tai Chi classes are held here on Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:00 am in Fellowship Hall. Do something nice for yourself in the new year. Tai Chi will help strengthen your core and improve your balance.
The cold outside can’t cool the spirit of love and kindness found within the doors of First Presbyterian Church. You will be welcomed by a warm, friendly congregation. Come join us. If you are unable to attend in person, the worship services are available online at our website: fpcclintonmo.net. You will also find a monthly newsletter and calendar of happenings. Be sure to check them out.

Mt. Calvary Apostolic Pentecostal
“Now and Later”
Scriptures: Galatian 2:20, Ephesians 21:34-36, Ephesians 4:22-24, James 5:7-8, Luke 21:34-36
Galatians 2:20.
Now is the present, in the moment. Later is after a given time, a time in the future, what is to come.
All great events require preparation. We do not want to leave anything to chance.
What would it look like if we treated the return of our Lord as a milestone event that we prepared for?
There should be changes in us that we can see. When we confess Christ there should be a change in the moment- the now.
Paul reminds us in Ephesians there are things to prepare for in the “now.”
There should be a mind change, a transformation by renewal in preparation for his return.
As a new creature, we have to deprogram and put on a new attitude be content with the joy of the Lord shake off negativity, and think about our good days because they always outweigh our bad days.
A new garment for us is a new attitude, mindset, righteousness, holiness, and the armor of God. God knows our imperfections and tailors his word for us so we become perfect in his sight.
Luk 21:34-36.
Luke tells us to watch ourselves so this life does not entrap us. Pray so we have the strength to get through it. It is important to consecrate ourselves to God. All hell is about to break loose and we need to be planted in the Lord. This comes with preparation. The enemy may sneak up on us but the preparation we make for ourselves will help us withstand it.
We have an alert system in the Holy Ghost. we have to pay attention and not brush it off. When we prepare well there should be little worry. There will be glory in the end after we go through.
Keep your lamp filled with oil. We do this by coming into God’s presence, fellowship, and staying in God’s love. One of these days we will either leave here with s personal escort or When Jesus comes back to rapture us all.
We want to be ready for that departure.
along the way, we should check ourselves to make spiritual adjustments. Check our thoughts, and feelings, daily, and repent if needed. If we stay ready now we will not have to get ready later.
God Bless.

What is Baptism? First and foremost, it is God’s work, not ours. Baptism is not something we do to please God, it is God’s work to impart faith and work salvation in us when we are yet still dead in our trespasses and sins.
As Martin Luther says in his Small Catechism: “By Baptism, we are made partakers of Christ. Now we who are baptized should DAILY repent of all sins, shun everything that is evil, and walk in newness of life.”
Luther also says in his catechism, “How can water do such great things? It is not the water indeed that does them, but the Word of God which is in and with the water, and faith, which trusts the such Word of God in the water.
For without the word of God the water is simple water and no Baptism. But with the Word of God it is a Baptism, that is, a gracious water of life and a washing of regeneration in the Holy Spirit.”
Remember, Baptism is God’s work, not ours. Baptism creates and sustains faith in people of all ages. Whenever you question your faith or salvation, remember you are baptized into Jesus Christ. God has claimed you and marked you as His. What a wonderful promise!
Baptism is an invaluable gift of God, and the crown jewel of our Christian faith. Remember and honor your Baptism daily.

1/21/24 Service
The weather doesn’t keep the faithful away from worship service. Today Clint Keeney rang the church bell. Mrs. Julia Klinefelter led in the congregational singing with Mrs. Dixie Collins playing the piano. Lonny Branell and Clint Keeney collected the offering.
The scripture passage from interim Pastor Steve Sowells sermon was from John 21: 15-25. In this passage Jesus is speaking toPeter about his love and commitment to Him. Jesus also wants our unwavering love and total commitment. We need to be committed even when life is tough. We are not to judge others but with God’s grace, love and care for them. Keep warm and take care.
1/28/24 Service
Sunshine brightened our spirits as we gathered for worship service. Lonny Bramell rang the church bell. Mrs. Julia Klinefelter led in the congregational singing with Mrs. Dixie Collins playing piano. We rejoiced with Helen McWilliams and Marta Stoneking on their birthdays. Lonny Bramell and Clint Keeney collected the offering.
The scripture passage from interim Pastor Steve Sowell’s sermon was from 2 Timothy 3:10-17. In this passage Paul is reminding Timothy of his purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, and about his sufferings and persecution. All Christians will be persecuted in various ways for their faith and sharing the truth of God. We are either going to be followers of Christ or the world. The Holy Spirit gives us the strength and power to overcome adversity. Challenge yourself to read the Bible daily and be guided and blessed by His word.

Valley Center United
“All who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles.”
We are an open and affirming church and welcome all to come and worship with us on Sunday mornings at 9 am.
We celebrated and welcomed Taryn Wirsig as a member of our Valley Center Church! Our annual church meeting was held today. This is an important time in the life of our church. Jim Switzer and Dylan Wirsig were elected to the positions of Deacon and Elder. We thank Peg Neuenschwander for fulfilling her term as Elder.
We send our love and prayers for our dear members that are facing some serious health issues. We pray for peace and understanding in our world of division and of war.
What is Heaven like? Will there be no worries and no fears? Will God’s promises be fulfilled?
On this Sunday, we celebrate the glorious revelation and transfiguration of God in Jesus Christ. This is a time when we have the opportunity to experience a little bit of Heaven. It is a time to experience God.
The Holy words tell us of the changes that occurred during this transfiguration. Christ’s light was so bright and his face shone like the sun. His clothes became as white as snow. It is a revelation of God’s presence in our world today.
This change, this transfiguration, ensures us that all that all of the promises of salvation and heaven, are real. All of our difficulties will be taken away and we will meet Jesus face to face. He will heal us with his love.
Heaven is right there for us. We need to use our energy and conviction to give our love to God, the church and each other.
“For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s.”
