Trinity, Rockville, and Mt. Zion United Methodist Churches had messages that are part of a new sermon series entitled The Struggles: How the Bible Guides Us through the Challenges of Life.
This week’s message was Authenticity. Specifically, we learned how all Christians are called to be authentic to themselves and to the world, because we cannot deceive God regarding who we really are. Too often, we create a social medial avatar and put on a public persona that are inauthentic. When we fall into this habit, we lose sight of who we truly are and struggle to relate to others, and when we cannot share with others honestly, we cannot hope to share Christ with them. For we come to love deepest in our moments of failure, weakness, and imperfection. When we are authentic to ourselves and to others, we honor God. As scripture says: “the Lord does not see as mortals see; they look on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart” (1 Sam 16:7). We must confess our fragility and imperfection – providing an authentic person to those around us that reflects the light of Christ. For in Christ, we are enough.
We hope that you will come and worship with us! See you soon!

On Sunday, Pastor Pat Findley delivered the 6th message of his fall sermon series, ‘Weakness is Greater than Strength’. In Judges 7, the Lord guides Gideon to ready the troops for battle against the Midianites. Already outnumbered, God tells Gideon to reduce the army. Without resistance, Gideon obeys. Then again, God instructs Gideon to thin the number even more. Likely fearful, Gideon trusts the Lord and follows His command. Biblical courage is contagious! With only 300 men remaining, Gideon’s army is outnumbered 450 to 1. Sometimes, we may be in a weakened position. We all face battles, known and unknown. The mark of holiness may not be in our strength, but in our weakness. By God’s grace, His power is made perfect in weakness. Weakness opens the door for God’s power to be fully displayed! Knowing that we are weak or fragile helps us to realize the greatness of God. God’s grace is enough!
Worship service times are 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. and Sunday School is offered at 8:15 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Youth and Children’s Ministries also align with these times. Celebrate Recovery is on Tuesday evenings, beginning at 5:30 p.m., for anyone with hurts, habits and hangups. On Thursdays at 6 pm, GriefShare provides help and encouragement after the death of a spouse, child, family member, or friend. Through Jesus Christ we are forgiven, healed and strengthened to be a part of the ministries of compassion in God’s world. Keep your eyes open for the possibilities to provide help and relief for those around you. Have an attitude of gratitude for your blessings and be willing to do your part to bless others. Rev. Nancy continued with her sermon series “Love and Faith”. This week’s message was from Matthew 14: 22 – 33 and titled Begin At the End. Rick Lingenfelter blessed us with his piano playing of the song “Sweet By and By”.

“Empowered From God”
Elder M.Miller
Empower: To give someone the authority and power to do something. To make someone stronger in controlling their lives.
When we have God on our side that is enough. The Holy Spirit within us empowers us. Jesus gave his disciples power and authority over unclean spirits, to heal all manner of sickness and disease.
We also have the power and authority over the devil. We should not be afraid but have confidence. People lack confidence in themselves and God. The Holy Ghost is the spirit of God.
This is the same spirit that was created in Genesis Chapter One, which parted the Red Sea and caused the Jordan River to dry up.
There is a difference between praising God and Worshiping God. We pour out our souls to God in worship. Praise is admiration and appreciation, expressed by raising our hands. God wants us to worship in spirit and truth.
Exo 19:5.
We will be a treasure to God if we obey him. The Holy Ghost is our treasure. We must grow with Holy Spitit in us. As we become experienced.
God has conditions. He told Solomon in
1Ki 3:14.
He told Joshua he would be with him if Joshua obeyed him. People need to be close to God and know that there is a conditional agreement he makes with his people.
Some people have power but lack obedience. For all the power Samson had he played with the wrong person. He went to the devil’s playground. He was told never to cut his hair and when it was cut, he lost his power.
God gave Saul a direct order to do certain things and Saul listened to man instead of God. Rebellion and disobedience are the same as witchcraft. Saul feared the people more than he feared God.
Listening to the wrong person will cause you to lose your power. God Bless.

It was a gorgeous Fall day as we gathered to worship the Lord.
Clint Keeney rang the church bell. Mrs. Julia Klinfelter led in the congregational singing with Mrs. Dixie Collins playing piano. We rejoiced with Robert Perrymann on his birthday. Randy Vogt and Clint Keeney collected the offering.
The scripture passage from interim Pastor Steve Sowell was from John 18. Jesus had just prayed for every believer and gave instructions to the Disciples. Now he was going to be arrested. Jesus told the Disciples to stay strong in their faith and abide in him and they would have the strength to endure with his promised hope. We must keep the same faith, hope, and abide in Jesus daily to keep the strength to make it through all the worldly events. Have a blessed week.

Valley Center United
We are one in the Spirit, and they will know we are Christians by our love.
We are an open and affirming church and welcome all to come and worship with us next Sunday morning at 9 am.
We sang happy birthday to Christy Maggi ! This morning we all gathered to pray and to send the beautiful quilt that the ladies made, to a family who lost their home from a fire. We send our love and best wishes to this family as they put their lives back together again.
We continue our prayers for the people of the Ukraine and Israel.
Our message today was, “A Time to Render, A Time to Sew”.
The Bible tells us that a group of Pharisees confronted Jesus asking for a yes or no answer on whether it was lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, the Roman emperor. Jesus replied by asking whose face was engraved on the coins used to pay the taxes. When they answered that it was Caesar’s face, Jesus replied, “Then render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s and to God the things that are God’s”. It was difficult to separate and know exactly what was their duty to Caesar and to God.
Today, life can be like that. There are hard issues to address, relationships to build and problems to solve. We have to remove some of those obstacles that are in our way to make things clearer, so we can move forward and live the life we are to live. We need to render our thoughts, concerns and responsibilities so we can see that path to peace, love and understanding.
