5-21-23 Service
What a pleasure to be in the house of the Lord and hear the gospel of the Lord proclaimed.
Jesus is still strong and sits on the Throne. He is in control of all manor of disease, let Jesus know your problems. He can heal now and forever. Call out to Him. Let Him hear from you. We can claim the victory in Jesus power. Hallelujah.
Jesus is preparing a place for you and me. Pastor shared a story based on Acts 2:20. Call on Jesus, you will be saved by the grace of God. He found me! And Jesus is always there, always available. He can be your very best friend and you can trust Him.
We thank each person for coming to worship here today. We pray that you received a rich blessing and that you will come again. See you in church? The Harvest is large, but the workers are few. Be willing to be used by God today!

On Sunday, Youth Pastor Joey Conway continued illustrating the Great Commission using Matthew 28. He described how the final words of Jesus commanded us to go and to make disciples of all nations. We are all invited to join Him, not because of who we are but because of who He is. He chooses all of us, despite our weaknesses, because our strength comes from Him. He is with us always through His Holy Spirit. “Go therefore” means to go because of the authority of Jesus, who commands us. “To make disciples” refers to making learners. The command of discipleship is a command to teach or mentor, trusting Him to equip us. Teaching can simply refer to how we live our lives. Jesus saves us to be disciple makers.

On Pentecost Sunday we celebrated the Holy Spirit that brings healing comfort and hope to us. With the collection of our Pentecost Offering we joined with other Presbyterians across the nation dedicating our offering to the ongoing work that cares for the needs of children living in at-risk conditions. Rev. Nancy Gillard brought the message Asking for Directions: Holy Spirit. Acts 2: 1 – 21, 37 – 42 was her text.
We enjoyed having Carmen Rathert from The Pediatric Place with us on Sunday, May 21st. She shared with us about the center which is designed to support children with autism. This new Autism Center is scheduled to be an addition to the Clinton clinic location this year.
If you are a member of the Naomi Ruth Circle be sure and mark your calendar for the annual brunch. This fellowship time will begin at 9:30 am at the home of Martie Zumbrunnen on Friday, June 2.
The Presbyterian Women have asked us to donate toothbrushes for the Samaritan Center. Toothbrushes are an essential part of our daily hygiene and health care routine. Harvesters provides much of the needed food supplies but hygiene items are not available. Your help is appreciated for this mission project. Donations may be placed on the shelves in the foyer.
The “Children in Africa” project continues with the addition of new dresses weekly. Our sewers add “little touches” to these dresses making them each unique. If you would like to join this effort, everything you need is available in the foyer. Do be sure to check out this display weekly so you can admire the handiwork.
Tai Chi classes continue here each Monday at 10:00 and 11:00 am and Wednesday at 10:00 am in our fellowship hall. Tai Chi helps strengthen your core and improve balance. There is room for you to join in.
Come worship with us. You will find a friendly group of people greeting you. If in person worship is not an option watch the broadcasts available online at our website: fpcclintonmo.net or Facebook First Presbyterian Clinton MO. Stay updated on the happenings at First Presbyterian by visiting our website. There you will find our monthly newsletter, pictures and other interesting items about the church.

Mt. Calvary Apostolic Pentecostal
Jesus instructed the apostles and they wrote the New Testament, from Matthew to Revelation.
Matthew 16:18-19.
Peter, one of the Apostles along with the other apostles was who Jesus said he would build his church. They were the foundation of all that he would teach them to go out and preach and teach.
John 21:24-25. (KJV)
John, one of the apostles knew what Jesus wanted because he was with him.
Act 1:2-5, 8. (KJV)
Jesus gave the apostles commandments of what they needed to do and teach out in the world, regarding what it would take to make it into the kingdom of God.
The Apostles wrote the New Testament, teaching what Jesus instructed. It is therefore called the apostles’ doctrine (Apostolic).
The Holy Spirit is like the wind, you can’t see the wind but you can see and feel the effects of it. We see trees blow in the wind and feel it. The same is with Holy Spirit, the evidence can be felt, and the evidence of speaking tongues.
Act 2:42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. (KJV)
Act 2:46-47.
The Lord directed people to the apostles.
Act 10:5. (KJV)
The Lord instructed Cornelius to send for Peter. Cornelius was a devout man, but what he lacked, God knew Peter would instruct him on.
The Apostle Paul established the church in Galatia, teaching the doctrine. They were moving away from the teachings of the Lord. Paul instructed them to get back on track. It says in
Gal 1:8.
We see the same thing in our present day. People are perverting the word and not following the Bible. People are coming up with new doctrines and denominations that satisfy their flesh. It is not the doctrine the apostles wrote in the Bible.
As Christians, we are to do what Christ said, not what we want. Christian means Christ-like. Doctrine: a particular principle, position, or policy taught or advocated, by a religion or government. Denomination: a religious group, churches.
Stay with the Bible God has placed instructions in there. If we follow it, and do what it says, we will make it into the Kingdom of Heaven.
(Ephesians 4:13-14).
1Ti 1:3.
We have to come to the knowledge of who God is and remain with the doctrine in the Bible. Putting anything in place of the apostles’ doctrine changes the doctrine and you will be held accountable to God. Remain faithful to the Bible don’t allow anyone to deceive you. If it is not in the Bible, don’t listen or accept it.
God Bless.

A Gospel sing will be held on Fri., June 2 at 7pm. Please join us.
This Memorial Day weekend we gathered to worship the Lord and to remember those who served this country. Clint Keeney rang the church bell. Mrs. Julia Klinefelter led in the congregational singing with Mrs. Dixie Collins playing piano. We rejoiced with Kevin and Brenda Richeson on their 20th wedding anniversary. Lonny Bramell and Clint Keeney collected the offering.
The scripture passage from Pastor Chad Pollett’s sermon was from John 8:48-59. In this passage the religious leaders were ramping up conflict with Jesus claiming he was possessed by a demon. Jesus was spared from being stoned because his time had not yet come. Jesus told the religious leaders in verse 51 “I tell you the truth, if anyone keeps my word, he will never see death.” we all have an earthly death, but will be spiritually alive with Jesus in heaven for eternity. Can you imagine how wonderful it will be to see and be with Jesus, the disciples, all our friends and relatives forever. Have a blessed week.

We come to you with grateful hearts! What a wonderful Sunday morning to come and worship here in our church that is surrounded by a beautiful flowered prairie land! God’s presence is everywhere we look!
We thank David Maggi for sharing the powerful message this morning. We send our prayers of love and comfort for those who are facing some serious health issues. We continue our prayers for the people of the Ukraine. We pray for our nation and our world.
We talk about sin, our sins. God has laid out rules for us to follow. When we sin, we have ignored those rules. When we hurt someone, we actually hurt ourselves as well. When we cheat someone, we cheat ourselves. Sin deprives us of goodness.
The story in the Bible when the people came together and started speaking in different languages, it appeared that no one could understand. But instead, this is a wonderful story of understanding, instead of misunderstanding. God understood what the people were saying, all of them. God listens to all of us individually. At times we may speak about joy or sorrow or even despair or hope. He understands us no matter how or what we say. His bountiful love and grace has no end.
