Calhoun UMC
Welcome to the Good News from Calhoun United Methodist. We were pleased to gather in fellowship and love, to praise the Lord with church family and guests. We ring the church bell at 9:45 to call the
“flock” to 10:00 Worship. Our service is live-streamed for face book.
Our Sympathy and Christian love are extended to the family and friends of Carolyn Hibbs, and Hank Taylor who passed into the arms of Jesus this week. Others on the prayer list include Pastor Margie Briggs, Billie Vanslyke, Pat Myers, Kyle Houts, Brenda Hunter, Earl Gumm, Macayla Lowe and baby, Bob Burson and family and Dave Burson. We continue to pray for those suffering in Ukraine and those who are trying to get them relief. We pray for our church families, for our great country and its leaders, for our men and women in service.
Joys to celebrate: What another beautiful weekend we have enjoyed here in the mid Missouri. A shower of rain passing through one night last week produced a rumble of thunder, which was an indicator to old timers that we can expect frost in May. Master James Stocking helped ring the church bell this morning, and oh; he thought it was grand. Special music this morning was “I Love To Tell The Story” on C.D. A joy for Sharon Miller was her granddaughter Page Miller will be singing at the Coffman Professional Arts Center next week.
We welcome visitors any Sunday morning for worship, come dressed as you are comfortable, bring the youngsters and be prepared to receive a blessing for your effort. We will be blessed by your presents.

First Baptist
On Sunday, First Baptist Church welcomed Pastor Pat Findley as he delivered his first message in his new role. Pastor Pat used John 15 to powerfully describe how we are Jesus-dependent fruit-bearers. Because Jesus is the vine and we are the branches, we may only bear fruit if we remain in Him. Apart from Jesus, we can do nothing. God desires His image in us through the fruits of the spirit: love, joy, peace, kindness, gentleness, self-control, patience, goodness, and faithfulness. His command is not to produce fruit, but to remain in Him so that He may work through us. The more we delight in the Lord, the more we want what He wants, and the more we experience true joy. Pastor Pat also reminded members and guests of a special opportunity coming up – Experiencing God, a 12-week group study beginning next week and offered to anyone interested in knowing and doing the will of God.

In our daily lives we often chase after things that can not bring us happiness and peace. It is Jesus Christ who is the Bread of Life. He alone can bring you healing peace and great love. Ephesians 4: 11 – 12 was the scripture used by Rev. Nancy Gillard for the message What If the Church Played in the Super Bowl. Our anthem this week, played by Gay Smith, was “Let Us Break Bread Together”.
The collection of toothbrushes continues for the Samaritan Center. Any size or color is welcomed. Several are on display on the foyer shelf. We will continue collecting throughout the month of February. There is still time for you to help with this mission project.
Personal hygiene items for the “Girls in Africa Project” are being created by our dedicated sewers. Flannel and quilted blocks for sewing along with finished pads for viewing are available in the foyer. Be sure to check out the pictures from the preparation work day on the bulletin board.
Tai Chi classes are held here each Monday at 10:00 and 11:00 am and Wednesday at 10:00 am. Consider joining Tai Chi. It helps strengthen your core and improve balance.
Come worship with us. You will be warmly welcomed. If in person worship is not an option please catch the broadcasts available online at our website: fpcclintonmo.net or Facebook First Presbyterian Clinton MO.

“Where Is All The Accusers”
Revelation 22:10. (KJV)
When Satan was in the presence of God he continually accused the other angels. He is not in the presence of God now, but he continues to accuse. He will use people to bring accusations against other people, especially Christians.
He is the author of accusations, a trickster, liar, and murderer. He know his time is coming to a close and he is trying to take as many people with him as possible.
Satan accused Job before God that Job only loved him because of the wealth he possessed. You wouldn’t think he would use such tactics in his accusations. He knows God knows everything about everyone.
Zechariah 3:1-2. (KJV)
Satan was standing at the right hand of Joshua, as to indicate his power over Joshua. But God rebuked him In Zechariah 3:2.
No matter our position in this life, God can pull you from Satan’s grip. He took Joshua’s filthy garments and replaced them with clean ones.
Luke 11:53-54. (KJV)
Satan will use people against you. Beware of those who try to pull you into something. They will try to pull you into situations to trigger you into getting involved, anything to accuse you and discredit you as a Christian.
Satan accused Jesus, Job, the angels, and Paul. He will accuse you too. Don’t allow yourself to become an accuser and remember God will forgive.
1 John 1:9 we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (KJV)
Let us also remember to forgive as it states in Matthew 6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. (KJV)
Mat 6:14-15. (KJV)
Let us remember not to judge, concerned about the moat in someone’s eye, when we have a beam in our own. (Matthew 7:1-5 KJV)
Finally, it says in Ephesians 4:1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, (KJV) Be watchful of the accuser in every situation. God Bless.

Mt. Zion UMC
Pastor David’s message, “Supererogation” was referenced with an Old Testament reading from Deuteronomy 30:15-20, and a Gospel reading from Matthew 5:21-37.
The congregation sat with their mouths wide open as in “Huh??”. We’d never heard of this word, let alone have any clue to its meaning. We were informed that this interesting new word means “going beyond the duty that is required by law or obligation.” So, what does that have to do with us as Christians? Everything!
Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins and He loves us beyond all understanding. Jesus—man and God—went far beyond what was required of him and earned infinite merit from His human and divine nature dying on the cross. This merit is transferred to each one of us through Grace, and if we accept this offer of Grace we will be reconciled with God.
In this new covenant Jesus holds us to a higher standard and we are now expected to go beyond the Law—go beyond what is expected of us—to live into the Spirit of the Law, not the letter of the Law. So, as we learned a new word, we were encouraged to go from this place, into the world, following the image of our Savior. Amen!

Trinity Lutheran
Natalie Paige Madel, the one-year-old daughter of Olivia Madel, is the newest baptized member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Natalie was baptized during the Divine Service on January 30. Welcome, Natalie, to God’s family of faith here at Trinity!
Zoe’s Home is currently seeking mentors for its resident mothers and mothers-to-be. Ideally, Zoe’s Home mentors would be women willing to spend one or more hours per week getting to know a resident and helping her as she progresses through her pregnancy and the months following delivery. The primary goal of the mentor volunteers is to wrap the mothers in Christ’s love and support on all fronts. If you’re interested, please contact Emily Stocking, Executive Director, at 660-351-1189, or emily@zoeshometlc.org.
Martin Luther often spoke about how Christians should be “little Christs” to their neighbors. Luther said the primary way Christians witness to others about their faith in Jesus Christ is how they live their lives as they go about their daily activities.
Of course, regular church attendance is an important part of a Christian’s witness to others. It’s important because it not only strengthens our own faith, but is a faithful witness and encouragement for others to do the same.
Come to church this Sunday. Your faith will be strengthened, and so will the faith of others by your public witness of the faith within you.

February 5th Service
It was a nice warm February day to worship the Lord. Clint Keeney rang the church bell. Mrs. Julia Klinefelter led in the congregational singing with Mrs. Dixie Collins playing piano. We rejoiced with Eva Richardson on her 10th birthday. Randy Vogt and Clint Keeney collected the offering.
The scripture passage from Pastor Chad Pollett’s sermon was from John 6:1-15. In this passage Jesus and His disciples had crossed over to the far shore of the Sea of Galilee. They were tired and wanted to rest, but a large crowd had followed them. It was getting late and they knew the crowd would be hungry. Jesus knew just what to do. A young boy had 5 small barley loaves and 2 small fish. The disciples told the people to sit down and Jesus blessed the bread and the fish. There was enough bread and fish to feed the 5,000 men, as well as all the women and children of nearly 20,000. The people realized that Jesus was the promised Messiah. Jesus is the Bread of Life - who gave us eternal life through His death and resurrection.

We are an open and affirming church and welcome all to come worship with us on Sunday mornings!
We wish David and Christy Maggi a very happy Anniversary! We enjoyed the talented music of David Maggi and David Cummings this morning! Congratulations to John Neuenschwander as he and Megan were crowned Court warming King and Queen at the Lakeland School. We send our love to several church members who are in need of our prayers and support. We pray for the year long war in the Ukraine and their people who have suffered every day with atrocities that we can’t even imagine.
Through the Covenant with God, he will forgive us. It is written that there are no righteous people, not even one. We all need forgiveness.
We often do things that we may be sorry for, perhaps even regret. It is never too late to say that you are sorry; sorry we didn’t listen, sorry we did something that we felt at the time we could get by with, and sorry that I criticized and didn’t help where we could have been a blessing to others.
In our own lives, it is sometimes easier to be in denial as we justify those things we have done. But there are people who forgive us and sometimes they even forget the wrongs that were done to them. When we let go of these things, say we are sorry and move forward, we become free of the negative effects those feelings can bring.
We are thankful to have such a loving God, who is right there for us, to forgive us and to forget.
We know that God’s mercy is very deep and wide and that door of forgiveness is open to all of us.
Open our ears and minds to receive your grace, O God. Take far from us any hesitation, any doubt, any fear. Lead us into your presence with joy in believing and a pure willingness to hear your words and live them. Be our strength and fortification, in the name of Christ, Amen
