Cathy L. Blackaby, age 69, of Clinton, Missouri passed away on Friday October 20, 2023 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri surrounded by her loving family.
Cathy L. Blackaby was born on May 19, 1954 to Wilma (Landall) and Marvin Hudgens in Clinton, MO. On July 25, 1980 she married Bobby Blackaby and to this union of 43 years, they were blessed with four children.
Growing up, Cathy enjoyed coon hunting with her dad and uncles. She also enjoyed going to garage sales with her mother and enjoyed nature and reptiles with her brother. Cathy and Judy enjoyed attending family reunions together and gardening.
Cathy enjoyed attending fairs and carnivals and met the love of her life at a carnival in Clinton. They have been inseparable since. The two enjoyed attending truck and tractor pulls, fishing and hunting together and wood working. She loved planting and growing flowers and Bobby made her numerous stands and flower beds.
Cathy loved her kids and grandkids. She enjoyed going to auctions and garage sales with all of them. She could always find a good bargain (especially wind chimes). She enjoyed baking with her daughters and granddaughters and teaching them all her secrets. She really enjoyed sewing and making things for the whole family. She was very proud of her grandkids and never missed a single event they had.
Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Wilma Hudgens and her brother Jim Hudgens.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Bobby Blackaby. Four children, Eddie (Lindsey) Simpson, Jenni Blackaby, Kim (Derik) Park and Eric (Ashley) Blackaby. Eight grandchildren, Derrick (Shelby) Simpson, Cheyenne Lee, Savannah Lee, Kuaden Lee, Matthew Park, Morgan Park, Emersyn Blackaby and Weston Blackaby. One great grandchild, Rozlynn Simpson. One sister, Judy Yoss and two nieces, Rachael Yoss and Misty Yoss, as well as many other friends and family.
She never knew a stranger and was the most selfless and loving Wife, Mom, Nene and friend. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services were held October 27, 2023 at the Vansant-Mills Chapel, Clinton with Pastor Anthony Velazquez officiating. The casket bearers were Dennis Parmalee, Harold Blackaby, Kevin Disney, Mike McCandless, Gary Disney and Brian Disney. Special music included “Please Remember Me.” Interment followed in Englewood Cemetery, Clinton, MO.
Services were under the direction of Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton, MO.
