Cardinals Fall To Roosters In Battle Of The Birds

Posted

Cardinals football fell to the Pleasant Hill Roosters on last Friday night. Coming off of their first win of the season in week 3, the boys went into this game knowing the Roosters had a strong team and ready to battle. The Cardinals fought but could not keep up with the Roosters, falling to Pleasant Hill by way of a 53-18 final.
OS: Tell me about how the boys reacted to this loss against Pleasant Hill after such a big win last week?
TM: Pleasant Hill is obviously an outstanding team. I think we were beat walking in there just because of the name. What we stressed later was, we played with them for a strong quarter but we let their name beat us when things got tough. We're just not a confident group yet as a whole. We're getting there, but it's gonna take everyone. Once every single player gets it in their mind that they can play with these bigger teams, things will change. Holden was a perfect example. They went in confident and played well. Several did not go in confident Friday night.
OS: How are you planning on bouncing back after this loss?
TM: We just have to keep moving forward and trusting one another. This week will be another tough task but it will be; can we overcome the fact that Oak Grove is good? At some point we have to realize we're pretty good too.
OS: How are you going to overcome these challenging teams ahead?
TM: Just believing in ourselves and eliminating silly mistakes. Multiple times we've given up the ball in the red zone on great drives. Mental focus has been a key ingredient we have to get better at across the board.
OS: Anything else, Coach?
TM: The biggest thing right now is the boys are still pushing. No matter the outcome, they've shown up the following week ready to go. We have to consistently put 4 quarters together no matter how hard it gets.
