The Cardinals played a tight first half and kept themselves in the game, but Oak Grove eventually pulled way in the second half of play to defeat Clinton at home last Friday night, 49-6.
Cards head coach Todd Mowery continues to see signs of improvement in his squad, has put week 5 behind him and has his sights set on this week's homecoming matchup when Clinton hosts the Versailles Tigers.
We caught up with Coach Mowery after the game and he had this to say:
"Started off pretty good. We played really well on both sides of the ball in the first half. We moved the ball great offensively in the first half and really slowed down their run game. We knew we wouldn't be able to shut their offense down, they are really good at what they do. We went into halftime trailing 14-6. We were confident in what we were doing until Oak Grove hit another score and that pretty well let the air out of us. We have to learn to finish when things get tough. We knew we would have to counter every score they made in order to keep the game close and we did not do that. We're looking forward to Homecoming week and getting back into the win column against Versailles."
