Cardinals Basketball Gets Underway With Jamboree

In an exciting series of matches, the Clinton boy's basketball team shined in the season-opening Jamboree, facing opponents in Butler, Sherwood and Eldorado Springs.
The first game against Butler started with the first period ending 8-6 in favor of the Cardinals. The second period intensified the competition, resulting in a 12-12 tie.
The game against Eldorado Springs started with the Bulldogs leading 17-8 in the first period. But in the second period, Clinton made a comeback, ending with a score of 10-7.
In the game against Sherwood, Clinton took the lead in the first period with a score of 12-6. However, Sherwood made a strong comeback, ending second the period with a score of 10-10.
The freshmen players on the CHS squad truly made their mark during the Jamboree.
The returning players on the team had exceptionally good performances as well.
The boys’ effort is all more impressive considering the fact they have another new head coach in Andre Steward.
The Cardinals season officially tipped off on Tuesday night when they hosted the Knob Noster Panthers. Results of that game will be in next week's edition of the Clinton Daily Democrat.
