Calhoun Man Arrested In Connection With Stabbing

On April 6, 2024 around 3:20 a.m. a victim of a stabbing presented themselves at Golden Valley Hospital Emergency Room. After brief questioning from the Clinton Police Department, it was learned that the stabbing had occurred in the 500 blk of West 4th Street in Calhoun. Deputy Evans and Sgt. Brandt began investigating and learned that the suspect lived across the street from the victims’ house. Taken into custody without incident was Manuel G. Hilario, age 38 of Calhoun. Hilario was transported to the Henry County Detention Center. Upon competing the preliminary investigation, assisted by Detective Swartz and Lt. Kubilus, a probable cause statement was submitted to the Prosecuting Attorney. Later that day, Prosecutor Lachrisha Gray charged Hilario with Assault 1st degree and Armed Criminal Action with a bond being set at $100,000 cash only. The victim of the stabbing is listed in critical condition at a Kansas City hospital after undergoing surgery. The Sheriff’s Office was also assisted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
