Announcing Candidacy

I am Taylor Bush and I am running for the office of Presiding Commissioner of Henry County.
One reason I am running for this position is to help find opportunities for growth and development for our county. Over the past 20 years, Henry County has experienced a population decline, due to environmental and economic changes, however little has been done to offset this trend.
I believe Henry County has outstanding assets such as quality health care, exemplary educational opportunities, and a well managed water and utility systems. The 2 and 4 lane highways throughout our county provide transportation opportunities for business and recreational opportunities. We are at a crossroad for growth and development. It is time for our elected officials to look further and deeper to find opportunities for growth and development. I would like to be your champion for finding these opportunities.
I believe that I have several qualifications that will assist me in the operation of the duties of the Presiding Commissioner. For the past 7 years I have been the review appraiser for the Henry County Assessor’s office. In this capacity I have reviewed virtually every structure and traveled every road, street and highway in the county. I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree from CMSU. I am proficient in the operation of the equipment and technological resources used in the office of Presiding Commissioner. My background in construction, agriculture and business along with my Technology Education degree have provided me with the experience to serve as the building codes inspector for Windsor and Urich for the past seven years. Over the past 30 years. I have held membership and leadership roles in several organizations; Past Master of the Masonic Lodge, President of the Henry County Fair Board, Past President of Farm Bureau, and current President of the Henry County Cattlemen's Association. I am also involved with Henry County Farm Bureau Extension Counsel, Sunrise Optimist Club, Elks, a friend of 4-H and a member of the Presbyterian Church.
As a lifelong resident from a multi-generational farm family, in high school and after, I farmed with my father, Frank Bush, on our Century Farm northwest of Clinton. In 1981, I started a diversified farming operation between Blairstown and Chilhowee and we continue to raise cattle and crops today. In 1988, I began working with Montgomery Construction, doing all aspects of construction until its close in 2010. I have been married to Suzanne Montgomery for 37 years. Suzanne is currently the director of the Henry County Museum. We have one daughter, Sarah, who is a pharmacist at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital. She and her husband,Thomas Gregg, are parents of our grandson Owen.
In these challenging times, I want to work hard to lead Henry County forward in growth and expansion. The time to begin is now. I am asking for your vote on August 2 for Presiding Commissioner.
