Beyonder Marine at Sterett Creek recently hired a new general manager, Chris Hawn. Hawn grew up in Farmington, Missouri, then continued his education at Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar majoring in Recreation.
After graduation, Hawn worked as a YMCA camp director in several different states for almost 20 years. He then went on to work in the Georgia State Park system and later with the Oklahoma State Park system. Hawn then moved to Branson as the manager of a Holiday Inn where he met his wife.
“The opportunity to come home to Missouri drew me to Branson and my parents had retired there as well,” said Hawn. “But after I met my wife, we decided to take this opportunity in Warsaw.”
Hawn’s plans for Sterett Creek include expanding the campground and giving the best customer service available.
“We want to make Sterett Creek a family friendly place with more activities for the children to become involved in,” said Hawn.
Hawn also has plans to work on a property clean up project as well as working on how reservations are taken at Sterett Creek.
“We will be looking into what our guests want and need when they come to the lake,” said Hawn. “If anyone is interested in opening a restaurant in the building on the property, they need to get in contact with me because we would love to see a restaurant here.”
Present employees are being retained at Sterett Creek and the Hawn's look forward to meeting them as well as present slip holders and customers.
Hawn and his wife are also interested in becoming a part of the Warsaw community.
“We were so impressed with downtown Warsaw and the Harbor area,” said Hawn. “We want to be a part of the community. In fact we are entering a float in the Lincoln and Warsaw Christmas parades this weekend. My wife is decorating one of the boats and we have invited some children to ride with us,” said Hawn.
