The Sunday of Labor Day week-end will be the last time to ride the Carousel for the 2023 season. They are open 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday-Sunday. They have had riders from 17 states, 1 foreign country and all the surrounding towns within a 25 mile radius for their first year open.
The 1963 Appleton City Football Team will be recognized at half time of the ACHS September 15 home game. This is the team that beat Butler and tied Warrensburg 0-0 for West Central Conference Co-Champs. They are trying to get the word out so the team (Freshmen - Seniors and Cheerleaders) can make arrangements to be present. They need your help in contacting everyone
Ellett Memorial Hospital Respiratory and Radiology Departments are sponsoring a Scarecrow Decorating Contest at the 2023 EMH Block Party September 30. Registration for the contest begins at 8:00 a.m. and judging will start at 10:00 a.m. Two separate age groups will be judged: ages 12 and under and ages 13 and up. 1st and 2nd place prizes will be given in each age group and one Best of Show prize will be awarded. RULES: Scarecrows must be at least 3 feet tall, Scarecrows must be suitable for outside display but do not need to be freestanding, No electrical outlets are available for displays and Scarecrows must be family-friendly and not contain anything considered lewd, crude, or offensive.
The AC Public Library is conducting their Friends of the Library Program until September 20, 2023. The program’s purpose is to fund the purchase of new hardback books for the library. You can become a friend by either choosing a book from the list or requesting another book you have wanted to read and then donating $20.00 for said book. The perks of being a Friend to the library are that you will be the first person to check the book out, and you will be honored by having your name placed on a special nameplate in the front of each of the Library Friend books. Library hours are currently Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays, 8:30-5:00 p.m. The books included on the summer list are: Imaginary Friend by Stephen Chbosky, Brides of Maracoor by Gregory Macguire, Kingdom of Bones by James Rollins, The Therapist by B.A. Paris, False Witness by Karen Slaughter, Obsessed by James Patterson, The Searcher by Tana French, The Wager by David Grann, and three children’s books for upcoming Story Hours.
The Appleton City Fall City Wide Garage Sale dates will be September 22 and 23. More details will be posted at a later date.
