The Appleton City Fair will be August 19. Events include the Baby Show, toddler swimsuit contest, kids games, pitch tournament, cornhole tournament, petting zoo, face painting, dunk tank, street dance, bounce houses, gellyball course and the parade at 5:00 p.m. Food options include biscuit & gravy breakfast, funnel cakes, kettle corn and Rockville reubens. Overload Band will be performing. Anyone wanting vendor registration forms or any other information can email appletoncityfair@gmail.com
After such a good response last month, the Appleton City Ministerial Alliance is excited to offer another Singspiration, hosted by the Christian Church in Appleton City at 6:00 p.m. Sunday August 20. Everyone is welcome. Please come to enjoy traditional gospel, hymns, and contemporary worship in a comfortable setting. Please bring songs and instruments and share as the Lord leads. The ACMA plans Third Sunday Fellowship meetings throughout the spring, summer, and fall months for area churches to gather and fellowship with one another
August 20 will be final day for the 2023 season at the AC Pool.
The AC Public Library is conducting their Friends of the Library Program until September 20, 2023. The program’s purpose is to fund the purchase of new hardback books for the library. You can become a friend by either choosing a book from the list or requesting another book you have wanted to read and then donating $20.00 for said book. The perks of being a Friend to the library are that you will be the first person to check the book out, and you will be honored by having your name placed on a special nameplate in the front of each of the Library Friend books. Library hours are currently Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays, 8:30-5:00 p.m. The books included on the summer list are: Imaginary Friend by Stephen Chbosky, Brides of Maracoor by Gregory Macguire, Kingdom of Bones by James Rollins, The Therapist by B.A. Paris, False Witness by Karen Slaughter, Obsessed by James Patterson, The Searcher by Tana French, The Wager by David Grann, and three children’s books for upcoming Story Hours.
The Appleton City Fall City Wide Garage Sale dates will be September 22 and 23. More details will be posted at a later date.
The AC Fair Committee is having an AC Fair 2023 fundraiser drawing for ½ hog with processing. 2 winners will be drawn on August 19 at the Fair. Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20. The winners will receive ½ hog with basic processing. Delivery to Heatherington’s in Clinton is provided. Winners will need to make arrangements to pick up processed meat once it is done.
