The Appleton City Museum, 503 N. Maple, one block north of caution light, is open for its 19th summer season. Visiting hours are from 1:30-4:30 every Friday afternoon and the first Saturday of each month May through September. They hope you will make the museum a place to visit this year. Encourage children, family members and friends to step back into time at the Appleton City Museum.
As growing season begins, University of Missouri Extension’s weekly Garden Hour returns to its noon slot on Wednesdays. MU Extension specialists address lawn, garden, disease and insect questions during the free hour long virtual sessions. Listeners receive a weather report from MU Extension climatologist Pat Guinan and hear brief sessions on timely gardening topics. Horticulturists answer submitted and live questions from participants. They also cover timely topics for the season. Pictures are always welcome and can help them in identifying problems. Ag producers who need to obtain or renew a private pesticide applicator license can attend one of the following on-line training sessions provided through University of Missouri Extension. This class also completes the EPA worker protection training program for ag employees who handle pesticides. Pre-registration is required. Historical Hysteria Days in El Dorado Springs will be Saturday, June 4, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. They plan for a day of fun and educational filled entertainment for the entire family. There will be antique tractors on Spring Street and roaming characters in costume from various historical years. Animals will also be available for children to see. Clintonville Masonic Lodge will serve breakfast and lunch and Preserve Our Past Society will have homemade pies and cobblers available. Old time fiddlers, cowboy poetry and old time music and dancing exhibitions will be offered for entertainment. Vendors and booths will be set up for your shopping experience.
