Immaculate Conception Church Lenten Fish Fry Dinners will be served March 10 and March 24 from 5:00 – 7:30 p.m. in St. Mary’s School Hall, Montrose. They plan to serve dine-in and carry out. The menu is fried fish, Suzy Q’s, cole saw, corn bread, cookies and a drink. Adults eat for $12, children under 10 for $6. They are serving the best fish around!
The Knights of Columbus will have their monthly pancake and sausage breakfast at the Knight’s Hall in Montrose on Sunday, March 12 from 8:30 – 10:00 a.m. Treat your family to a hot breakfast you don’t have to cook or clean up. A free will donation will be greatly appreciated
Grace Christian Academy will have their 3rd annual hog roast dinner with silent and live auctions fundraiser Saturday, March 11 4:00-7:00 p.m. in the Lowry City Civic Center, 4th & Cleveland in Lowry City. The hog roast dinner for $10 includes meat, sides, dessert and drink. Children 4-12 years eat for $6, 3 and under are free. Carry out is available. Silent auction from 4:00 – 6:30 and live auction starts at 7:00 p.m.
The Appleton City Public Library is conducting their Friends of the Library Program until March 14, 2023. The program’s purpose is to fund the purchase of new hardback books for the library. You can become a friend by either choosing a book from the list or requesting another book you’ve wanted to read and then donating $20.00 for said book. The perks of being a Friend of the Library are that you will be the first person to check the book out, and you will be honored by having your name placed on a special nameplate in the front of each of the Library Friend books. Library hours are currently Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays, 8:30-5:00 p.m.
St. Clair Co Emergency Management is hosting a series of Community Awareness seminars to assist the residents of the area to know what to do in an emergency situation. The program will present simple skills that can help you save you and your family in case of emergency. The first seminar will be 7:00 p.m. March 24 at Appleton City Forrest Park Community Building. Other seminars are being scheduled for more communities as well.
By presenting a coy of the flyer located on the ACHS Cheer Facebook page or available at local businesses to the Belton location Texas Roadhouse on March 16, Texas Roadhouse will donate 10% of your total food purchases to the ACHS Cheerleading Squad.
ACHS Cheer will have a bake sale at 4th Street Fika 8:00 a.m. March 18.

Golden Apples Over 50 Social Club promotes the well-being of senior citizens in the cities of Appleton City, Montrose and Rockville, Missouri. Golden Apples was formed to address the issues of isolation and food security in this underserved rural area. Join them Wednesdays at 4:00 p.m. for dinner and bingo (with lots of prizes). Everyone is welcomed. March 1 dinner will be at the Christian Church and the church will prepare and serve the meal. Election of officers. March 8 will be at the Methodist Church and will be Italian night. Please bring a side dish. March 16 will be on Thursday and NOT Wednesday as they will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Fried chicken and baked potatoes will be served. Please bring a side dish. The evening will be game night - NO BINGO. There will still be lots of prizes. March 22 will be at the Methodist Church. The meal will be a casserole dinner with side dishes provided by the members. March 29 they are going to Short Street in Montrose. Time will be determined.
The ACHS Alumni Meeting will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 27, 2023 with a noon meal/meeting. Three of the ACHS cheerleaders were chosen for a Cheer USA camp in Hawaii. This camp is open to all 50 states and each cheerleader must be nominated by their coach. Cheerleaders are then selected by a committee according to their leadership qualities, cheer skills, positive attitudes, ability to work well with others, academics and coach’s recommendations. Congratulations to Kaydance Litton, Peyton Long, and Damara Hood. The AC Spring City Wide Garage Sale dates will be April 28 and 29. Information regarding permits will be posted at a later date.
Funds are needed for the “Backpack Program”. The backpacks have kid friendly food that goes home with 25 needy school kids weekly. Trinity United Methodist Church in Appleton City houses this project, which is funded by community donations. At this time, with the increase in cost of groceries, they are reaching out for your help. Donations are accepted at the church. For more information, call 660-492-7591
The Truman Lake Community Foundation (TLCF) will distribute more than $70,000 in grants this year, $35,000 this spring, and your organization has an opportunity to receive some of the funds. If your school, 501c3 not-for-profit organization, church, or governmental entity is seeking money for a project, then the TLCF might be able to help. The 2023 TLCF grant making cycle will run until 5:00 pm March 10, 2023. Grant applications must be completed online at https://tinyurl.com/2awtmwj6. There are various foundations on the website, so be sure to look for the Truman Lake Community Foundation Grantmaking Program Spring 2023. Awarded grants will be distributed in April 2023. From the generosity of various organizations and community members, the Truman Lake Community Foundation has ballooned to manage more than twelve million dollars in assets. Generally, TLCF uses interest earnings on some of their funds to facilitate the grants and give back to the community.
