State Fair Community College will host a Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) seminar. The class will consist of 6.5 hours of YMHFA content and will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 1, in the Marvin R. Fielding Technical Center, room 219, on the Sedalia campus. The seminar is free, and lunch will be provided. Participants are encouraged to register and will receive a certificate of completion.
Youth Mental Health First Aid teaches participants how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among adolescents ages 12-18. Attendees will build skills and confidence in reaching out and providing initial support to young people who are struggling. Tips on how to provide appropriate support will be presented.
