Ozark Foodie

I was just informed by my younger cousins that my recipes are retro. My book on 365 Snacks, Hors D’Oeuvres & Appetizers was published in the early 1990’s so I guess I am. However, many recipes are still really good even if dated. (Not the microwave ones, but that’s another story)

Right now, I am into easy and quick. I love blue cheese, often ordering it from Maytag Farms in Iowa, one of the best. The following recipe could not get much easier and it is always a hit.

-1 package refrigerated flaky biscuits, (regular size can, not the large one)
-1 stick (4 ounces) butter
-1 cup crumbled blue cheese.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Separate dough into individual biscuits and cut into quarters. Arrange in a single layer in an ungreased 9x13 baking pan.

In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add blue cheese and cook, stirring, until cheese is melted and mixture is well blended. Pour over biscuits and bake until dough has absorbed most of the cheese mixture and tops are nicely browned; about 10 minutes. Let cool in pan 2-3 minutes before removing with a spatula. Serve warm.
