Ongoing Investigation In Clinton Shooting

On August 27th, 2022 at approximately 6:15pm Ryan Alexander contacted dispatch via 911 and reported he had shot his wife at their residence in the 400 block of East Louise Avenue in Clinton. Upon entering the residence, the Clinton Police Department found Mr. Alexander’s wife, Ashton Christine Alexander age 28, deceased in the living room with multiple gunshot wounds. CPD also found evidence that the victim had been shot multiple times in the face, within close range. Clinton Investigators were assisted on the scene by Henry County Sheriff’s Department personnel. According to the police report, a neighbor provided video evidence of gunshots that can be heard occurring at approximately 5:01pm after Ryan and Ashton had a loud argument and Ryan left the residence momentarily before coming back and firing his weapon. CPD also claims in the police report Ryan Alexander smelled of a very strong odor of an unknown alcoholic beverage. Mr. Alexander refused to submit to a field sobriety test and refused to answer any questions without an attorney present. Mr. Alexander was taken to the jail and put on a 24 hour investigative hold for murder. Upon being booked in, Ryan reportedly admitted to jail staff that he had consumed vodka and two tall boy beers in the three hours prior to the shooting. Mr. Alexander was released without being formally charged as the investigation is still ongoing.

The Henry County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office announces that charges have been filed against Ryan W. Alexander, 27, of Clinton for the death of his wife.
Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, LaChrisha Gray, filed the case on behalf of the State of Missouri charging the defendant with murder in the first degree and armed criminal action.
According to the probable cause statement, Clinton Police Officers responded to the residence of Ashton and Ryan Alexander after Ryan Alexander placed a call to the Henry County 911 Center indicating he had shot his wife. Upon arrival, officers found Ashton Alexander deceased with multiple gunshot wounds.
The Henry County Associate Court issued a no bond warrant at the request of the prosecutor.
The defendant has been arraigned and a bond hearing has been set for September 6, 2022 at 11 am at which time the Henry County Associate Court will consider whether to set a bond in the matter.
