Local Elections Loom: Who Will Be On The 2024 Ballot

Last month the Benton County Enterprise reported on filings for mayor, aldermen and alderwomen in the county. The filing deadline for the April 2, 2024, Primary Election ended on December 26 with a few new filings. Updated information follows as well as added information on school board races.

Information on Cole Camp City elections remains the same. Current officials are Mayor Robert Meuschke, Alderwomen Diana M. Burdick and Mindy Fox in the East Ward, and Aldermen David Locke and Jon Beckman in the West Ward. Mayor Meuschke and Alderwoman Fox have filed to run for their current positions for another two-year term. Alderwoman Burdick has filed to run against Mayor Meuschke. Fox is unopposed.

Lincoln City officials are Mayor Glen Nelson who is running for a second term, Alderwoman Barbara Hammond and Alderman Jack Lietzke in the East Ward, and Alderwoman Janice Swearngin and Alderman Philip Fisher in the West Ward. Mayor Nelson and Alderman Lietzke are up for re-election and have filed to be on the April 2 primary ballot. Alderwoman Swearngin’s term is about to end, but she did not file to run again. However, Seth Casey has filed to run for Alderman in the West Ward.

Warsaw remains as reported last month. Officials are Mayor Eddie Simons, Alderwoman Reba Slavens and Alderman Rob Coskey in Ward 1, Aldermen Lou Breshears and Doug Hedrick in Ward 2, and Aldermen Eric Flores and Adam Howe in Ward 3. Aldermen Coskey and Howe have filed to run for another term. Alderman Hedrick has resigned, and James White is running for his position.

School Board members in Cole Camp are currently Jordan Kyle, Darin Harms, Rick Grunden, Marty Doogs, Connie Berendzen, Kevin Harms and Curtis Oelrichs. Darin Harms’ term is up, but he didn’t refile. Rick Grunden is currently appointed to a one-year unexpired position, but he has chosen to file to run for a three-year term position. Zachery Lutjen and Peter Pierson have filed to run for the unexpired position.

Lincoln School Board members are Angela Parrott, Jason Smallwood, Kyle Elchler, Matthew Rutherford, Neil Eckhoff and Susyn Sanders. Angela Parrott and Jason Smallwood are at the end of their terms and have refiled to run again. Lori Eifert has filed to run for one of their positions.

Warsaw School Board members are Leslie Grace, Dr. Loren Whetsell, Dr. Amie Breshears, Dr. Amber Campell, Charlotte Beck and Lamonte Yoder. Dr. Campbell’s term is expiring, and she has filed to run for her position again. Bradley Wright has filed to run for the open position formerly held by Mike Schockmann.

State Fair Community College Board of Trustees has six members who serve six-year terms. They include Patty Wood, Richard Parker, Justin Hubbs, Tim Carr, Amie Breshears (representing Warsaw), and Tom Oldham. President Patty Wood’s term is ending, and she has filed to run again. She will be contested by Jeff Page and Steve Bloess.
