While Clinton Cardinals softball entered district play this past week with championship aspirations, it was simply not to be for the Lady Cards, who “left it all out on the field” last Tuesday night as they fell to Odessa, 6-0 in what would be their final game of the season.
Despite the loss, there’s a bittersweetness here at season’s end, with a lot for the girls to be proud of.
The team, which experienced true highs-and-lows in a season filled with outs, droughts, and three spectacular tournament runs, ends their roller-coaster season not only with a heavier trophy case, but also with pride, respect, and thanks from the community for the show they put on along with all the hard work that made it possible.
