Lady Cardinals Take 1st Place In Clinton Invitational As Post-Season Looms

Posted

Cardinals Volleyball, who rode the momentum of a two-game win streak against Versailles and Oak Grove coming into the Clinton Volleyball Invitational, gutted out four more wins in a row to take 1st Place in front of their home-crowd this past week. The Cardinals squad, which has shown guts, grit and steady improvement throughout the course of the season, seem to have fully taken flight, soaring into district play this week with the momentum of six straight victories. A big part of that win streak is the senior leadership on the squad, with seniors Mercedez Brown, Nyssa Brown, and Jazmyn Shockley leading the way for these Lady Cards, who seem to be peaking at just the right time. The team will start district play this Thursday against Ewing Marion Kauffman High-school, as they look to keep their season and championship hopes alive against the Blue Knights.
Stat Leaders for Cardinals Volleyball on the Season:
Mercedez Brown (171 Kills, 0.323 Hit Percentage)
Nyssa Brown (47 Total Blocks)
Jazmyn Shockley (32 Serving Aces, 181 Digs)
Bri Wright (402 Assists)
Paige McNabb (290 Receptions)
