Hosted Community Luncheon For ‘Heart Of Community’ Event

The recently incepted Truman Lake Moose Lodge #2722 had the prestigious honor of hosting Bruce Masopust, the newly elected Chairman of the Board for Moose International, at a community luncheon on Saturday August, 27th. During the lunch, the Moose Members completed their “Heart of Community” event by gifting local first responders “Tommy Moose” stuffed animals to have on hand when they encounter a traumatized child. In attendance were Truman Lake Moose Lodge officers: Sam Gibons- President, Bill Clifton- Administrator, Roxnne Thompson- Vice President, as well as several Moose Lodge members, Frank Vorhees- Territory Manager for Moose International, community members, first responders and Clinton Mayor, Carla Moberly. The Moose Lodge is a charitable organization that believes in helping community, helping individuals, and helping organizations. Among the various charities the Truman Lake Moose Lodge contributes to is “Moose Heart” , a thousand acre tract of land outside of Chicago where Moose International has its own school for underprivileged children. The school has its own sports, residence halls, and graduation ceremonies. They also have a retirement community called “Moose Haven” outside of Orlando, FL where any 15+ year Moose Member can choose to retire. Locally, the lodge contributes to veterans organizations and special olympics. The Moose take up a donation collection at each meeting to benefit these organizations. Moose International has lodges in 49 of the United States and several provinces in Canada, as well as in the UK.Moose International’s slogan for the 2022-2023 year is “Make It Happen” with Masopust adding his own byline: “Because We Care”. Currently the Truman Lake Moose Lodge is open Wednesday -Saturday from 2pm to 10pm and will open for most Chiefs games as attendance allows.
