Holy Rosary School was awarded $50,000 in a School Safety Grant through Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).
Schools applied to DESE through a competitive grant application process. Non-public schools were able to compete during the second round.
Governor Parsons announced the recipients of the second round of the School Safety Grant Program in a press release on October 2, 2023.
“Improving the safety and security of our schools is an issue we can all support, and these grants help ensure our schools remain safe environments for Missouri children to learn,” Governor Parson said. “While threats of violence are something we never want to see in our classrooms, we must be prepared and have proper resources and response plans in place. This second round of school safety grants continues our commitment to doing just that and helping keep kids safe.”
The Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph has always been proactive about safety in their schools.
At the beginning of each school year faculty and staff review their safety plan and practice this plan.
The beginning of this year was no different but the Diocese felt it was time for each school to have an on-site facility risk assessment, expert witness services, and intruder response training to equip schools with the knowledge and strategies needed to keep kids and faculty safe.
Strategos International provided Holy Rosary School with suggestions and strategies to help improve upon what Holy Rosary School already had in place. This helped train the faculty and staff specifically to their site and the unique challenges at their school.
This School Safety Grant has provided video surveillance systems inside and outside the school and protective laminate for windows and doors. There were additional updates to their building too.
Holy Rosary School partnered with Troy Bohannon, SecureNet, LLC, Tim Jennings, Safe Haven Defense, John Voelmeck, Full Line Lumber, Roger McKinley, McKinley Construction, and Jim Falk, Jim Falk Motors to accomplish the previously mentioned improvements and the additional updates that were identified from the risk assessment.
In the past three years Holy Rosary School has been awarded $180,150 to improve educational services and the facility for their children, families, parish, and our community to provide the best education and facility possible.
Holy Rosary School is rooted in faith and committed to serving God, children, families and communities by growing in knowledge and serving others. Holy Rosary School has been a cornerstone in Clinton for challenging and empowering their students since 1962. The school serves students pre-kindergarten through eighth grade and remains dually accredited by stringent accreditation standards.
