Name: Carolyn Wing.
Birthplace: Olathe, KS.
Years in Clinton: 9.5
Family: 2 older brothers and 4 older sisters.
The best thing about living in Clinton: The small town feel.
Occupation: Critical Care Nurse.
What I wanted to be when I grew up: Veterinarian.
First job: Daycare teacher for 2 year olds.
Favorite childhood memory: My dad would train bird dogs to handle birds when hunting and they had a huge kennel in the backyard. In the winter I would take a big blanket outside and crawl into the massive doghouse with all of the dogs and we’d take naps together throughout the winter. Waking up with 4-5 dogs on each side all snuggled up is the happiest moment ever. If I was ever missing, I could always be found in the doghouse with the sweet doggos.
The best time of my life was when: When I passed my nursing board exam! Such relief!
What do you value most in your friends: Their kindness.
Your greatest fear: Being alone.
Most embarrassing moment: At work my freshly refilled drink was about to be knocked over so I stopped it from falling by ninja punching it off the counter and onto the floor.
I hope I never have to: Bury a child.
I’ve never been able to: Wiggle my ears.
If I won the lottery, I would: If it was a few million, I’d pay off my brothers college debt, buy my sister a custom built house and buy one for myself - ideally close to each other and take all of my friends on a huge vacation (all 4 of them) lol and then on my land would fill it with rescue dogs and create a sanctuary for them.
My dream trip would be to: Italy to visit my ancestors land.
Hobbies: Hiking, playing musical instruments, and painting.
Favorite band or musician: Louie Armstrong.
Favorite movies: Napoleon Dynamite, Nacho Libre, and White Chicks.
Favorite drink: Strawberry lemonade and Pina Colada are tied for first.
Favorite snack: Chex mix.
Favorite candy: Reisen Chocolate, and Almond Joys and they’re impossible to pick between.
Future goal: become a homeowner.
Which person do you admire most: My sister Catherine, she is so amazing, resilient, kind, supportive and has persevered through so much. She’s so strong and beautiful.
Advice you would give your younger self: Give yourself some grace, you’re doing the best you can and that’s all you can do.
Words to live by: We can’t help everyone, but everyone can help someone.
