Fristoe News

The Fristoe area has had cold rain for the last several days but today the clouds have moved out somewhat and the sun is beginning to shine a little bit. According to the advanced forecast, this whole week shows temperature highs in the 50's, which sounds good.

It is with regret that I write this column this week. One of Fristoe's finest went to be with The Lord this past week. Yvonne Easter Reaves Gemes Willis is someone who was born and raised in Fristoe and died on January 24 at her home, surrounded by her family. Easter lived in Fristoe first as a child and then as a wife. She married Donald Gemes as a young teenager, joined church after getting saved and became a mother and worker of the Assembly of God church. Easter and Donald became parents of two children and they both worked tirelessly in the church, then Easter began to work in the garment factory in Warsaw, Unitog, Mfg! Donald was in a tragic tractor accident and was killed in the late 80's. Easter met a gentlemen several years later named Don Willis and married him and moved to his home in Macks Creek where with him, worked in the Harmony Missionary Baptist Church as long as her health allowed. Everyone who met Easter loved her immediately, and she will be missed by all. Easter's visitation was Sunday afternoon at the funeral home in Macks Creek, MO, and funeral was held Monday at 1:00 PM at the funeral home in Macks Creek. Everyone sends sympathy to the families involved in Easter's life.

I apologize to birthdays and anniversaries that I failed to get in paper last week; Jim Jackman, January 26; Jesse Jackman, January 27; and Randy and Heather's anniversary!

As mentioned, we have Easter Willis on the prayer list for quite some time and that ended last week as she went to be with her lord. Delores Prater was able to return home last Thursday and attended church on Sunday. God is good; Remember to keep Kathy First, Lewis and Judy Retherford, Leland Brown, Lovely Henderson, Gladys Harris, Curtis Allen and Mary Scarbrough all on prayer lists.

Gracie Yoder sent a word this week saying that she is at Dolphin Beach Jeffrey's Bay, South Africa. She talked about things that appeared normal such as sandwiches with jam and bread, how they have normal looking coffee, she showed a picture of clothes hanging on a line just to mention what had caught her attention. Keep Gracie and her team in your prayers!

Fristoe Pentecostal Lighthouse Church had a plumber at the church for repairs on the lines from the bathrooms to lines coming out of the old parsonage. There was quite a clogged mess, but as of now it appears things are running smoothly! Things are slowly coming back to normal as people are healing and getting to feeling better.

Claude and the Lighthouse Singers sang "Because He Lives" DoBee, Brenda, Ken and Tony sang "Who Am I" and Dave sang "Moment of Grace". Adult Sunday School class started the 2nd unit with a lesson entitled Origins of the Church. Br. Smith's message was found in the xixth chapter of Revelation and shows the difference between Righteousness and where others are found Death and Hell!

Thought for the week: This is the message we heard of Him, that God is light and in Him is no darkness!

Hoping each and every one of you has a joyous and prosperous week!
