Posted

Heartland Community Theatre is inviting the community to its final event of the 2023 season, with two (2) back-to-back stage productions on each performance date. A youth production of “Angels With Paper Wings”, a comedy written by W. Gordon Mauermann, kicks off each date, to be followed by “Scrooged Up!”, a comedy written by Dan Roberts, after an intermission. Nightly shows will be held on Friday, December 8th and Saturday, December 9th, both beginning at 7:00 p.m., with Sunday, December 10th, afternoon matinee performances at 2:00 p.m. The final “encore” performances will be on Saturday, December 16th, at 7:00 p.m.
Tickets are $12.50 for adults, $6.00 for children 5-12 years of age and children 4 and under are FREE, and can be purchased in advance by calling our Ticket Information line at (660) 351-5288, as well as purchased at the door prior to each performance date. Ticket purchases will be for BOTH performances, essentially two shows for the price of one!!
In “Angels With Paper Wings”, things are not going well during the dress rehearsal for a Christmas pageant. One member of the cast is lonely and has no friends, another is unhappy because she did not get the role she wanted. And both are angry at the stage manager. But the Golden Angel and the Silver Angel (the Spirits of Christmas Pageants) help them to realize that personal problems can disappear in the joy of sharing. And, as the pageant goes forth, the Golden Angel and the Silver Angel look down proudly on their earthly counterparts, their “angels with the paper wings.”
In “Scrooged Up!”, the Hillsdale Community Theater wants to produce “A Christmas Carol”, but they don’t have enough actors to play the extraordinarily large number of roles. So their undaunted director, being resourceful (if not totally realistic), has double and triple cast the roles. And since everyone in sight has been recruited, the cast also fills in as costumers, stage hands and technicians. The impossibility of this situation brings tensions to a comical head as the final rehearsal invites one calamity after another. “Scrooged Up!” provides a “Dickens” of a time for everyone!!
The productions are both being directed by Rob Hills and features many new, as well as several familiar faces on the Heartland stage. You won’t want to miss this final event of the 2023 season. Heartland Community Theatre Pavilion is located 108 North Washington, Clinton. Please feel free to stop by and share in the spirit of Christmas!!
