Clinton Archery Hits The Mark At NASP State Tournament In Branson

The Clinton School District was well-represented at the NASP (National Archery in the Schools Program) State Tournament last week in Branson.
The Clinton Intermediate School Archery team shot a SCHOOL RECORD score at the tournament, and are ranked the 7th best elementary team in the state. Three CIS archers are in the top 15 for Missouri. These students are: Elena Knowles-Perry (6th best), Jentry Campbell (11th best) and Sawyer Shumate (14th best).
Clinton Middle School had 22 students qualify for the bullseye competition and 10 qualify for the 3D competition. The bullseye range is completed over 6 ends, 3 at 10 meters and 3 at 15 meters. The 3D range is comprised of 6 three-dimensional animals: turkey, coyote, bear, pronghorn sheep, whitetail deer, and a ram.
Clinton High School was able to take 27 students to the state competition this year. The CHS 3D team finished 31st out of 38 teams with a score of 1586. The top 6 archers on a team make up the team score. Abby Jones placed in the top 50 with a score of 277 for high school girls. The CHS Bullseye team finished 33 out of 54 teams with a score of 3217. The top 12 archers on a team make up the team score. Mason Shumate finished 99th with a score of 281 out of 764 high school boys. Abby Jones finished 93rd with a score of 277 out of 631 high school girls.
