Warsaw Christian Church

We sing out of a hymn book in our church, and a song I always enjoy singing is, “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus.” Perhaps the author of the hymn had in mind the verse from Hebrews 12:2, “keeping our eyes on Jesus, the source and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that lay before Him endured a cross and despised the shame and has sat down at the right hand of God’s throne” (HCSB). As we focus our attention on Jesus and how He has redeemed us, our faith increases, and our fears and doubts decrease.

It is so easy to focus our attention on our problems and circumstances. I must confess that I am often guilty of focusing too much on circumstances and lapsing into a “woe is me” mentality. The hymn mentioned reminds us that as we focus on Jesus, “the things of earth grow strangely dim.”

Don’t allow your burdens to weigh you down. Focus your attention on Jesus. Pray in His name. Find a good church that focuses on Jesus and worship Him. (There are many faithful churches in Warsaw). When life throws a problem your way, turn to Jesus and seek His help. The first verse of the hymn reads as follows: “O soul, are you weary and troubled? No light in the darkness you see? There’s light for a look at the Savior, and life more abundant and free.” As we focus our attention on Jesus, our problems do not disappear. Rather, He gives us the wisdom and strength we need to live a victorious life. Jesus is greater than anything we face.

Where Did Cain Get
His Wife?

Well, I have your attention. Funny how that question means so much to so many. The answer will not help you become a better Christian, but many want to know. For some, it has cast doubt on the credibility of the Bible.
Few will accept that he married his sister. The blood lines weren't corrupt in those days so there were no medical reasons for not doing so. Also, he could have easily married a niece because much time had passed. Maybe, just maybe, the verse is out of chronological order, thereby he could have married someone further removed from his family tree. The other thought is that there were other people God created. Some will not accept that.
Was Jonah swallowed by a whale or a sea creature or by a large corporation?
Was Goliath dead when David hit him in the forehead with a stone or only when he was beheaded?
Did Jesus heal Malchus to keep Peter from being arrested by the Jewish officials? As that would have destroyed the evidence.
Was Paul's thorn in the flesh actually eye trouble as some have suggested?
Was Jesus born on December 25?
Was Easter a pagan holiday?
Did Adam and Eve eat forbidden apples or grapes or figs?
Did Adam have a belly button?
Were the five loaves of bread the size of a biscuit?
Who wrote the book of Hebrews?
These are very important questions and I urge you to spend your life arguing about the answers.Seriously? I am Johnie J. Logue, pastor of Grace Baptist Church at 31046 Hwy MM in Warsaw, MO 65355.

Delight thyself also in the Lord; and He shall give you the desires of thine heart.
-Psalm 37:4
Sunday school was well attended today. The Ladies class had a great discussion about the Tower of Babel. The children’s class is also well attended. It is good to see that the young ones are willing to learn about Jesus.
Worship was also well attended. Many were in attendance today that hadn’t been there for awhile. James Wagner celebrated a birthday. Pastor Jesse’s sermon was about the grace of God. For the grace of God we get to go to heaven. When we pray we should ask for God’s will to be done. When things fall into place it is God’s will. What ever you do it needs to be done to glorify God.
Christ is our cornerstone. What ever you are planning to do bring it back to the cross. There is more peace with Jesus. Do you have a cornerstone to build off of? Jesus Christ is the greatest cornerstone. Nothing is forever except our salvation. We have a Savior to talk to. Will you go with Jesus or not? Jesus never leaves us, He is always there. Our salvation is sealed. Build on the cornerstone and read your Bible. Make the cornerstone Jesus.
Remember that Bible means BASIC INSTRUCTION BEFORE LEAVING EARTH. See you next week go to a church of your choice and learn about Jesus the cornerstone.
UNTIL NEXT WEEK, GO WITH GOD AND GOD BLESS.

In Matthew 13: 47-52 Jesus shares the Parable of the Net where the fishermen sit down to sort out their fish. Jesus says this is how it will be at the end of the age. Every knee will bow is not just about believers. Everyone will recognize the glory of Jesus! There will come a time when Jesus returns to earth, and for some, it will be too late because they wasted every opportunity given to them. For believers, they are already bowing and confessing. There are consequences to the decisions we make. Jesus doesn’t want anyone to go to Hell. His goal is that everyone will spend eternity with Him in Heaven. Jesus died on the cross and desires that every person would ask Him to forgive them. He is good – that’s who He is!
If we pretend problems don’t exist, they don’t ever get better. If we’re going to sort – we should want no one to experience weeping and gnashing of teeth. When Jesus hung on the cross, He took the weight of everyone! He stayed on the cross! He saw all our sins, even the worst people, and it didn’t change His mind. We see people do wrong and we’re ready to condemn them. We are to hate evil and cling to what is good. God is fully grace and truth 100% all at the same time. His expectation is for His people to be full of grace and truth all at the same time. It’s ok to stand up for good and do it in love. There’s no such thing as righteous anger. We are to treat people as Jesus does. He died on the cross for them too.
Close your eyes and see the person who has hurt you the most – the extent of His love is for us to see them as He does. Jesus wants the best for the world. We are duty bound to do something when we know there is wrong. Truth and grace together. When people who know something about grace also have truth, they have something special. Non-stop goodness all the time. God’s grace is good regardless.
