First Baptist
On Sunday, Pastor Pat Findley continued in the Experiencing God series with a message titled, ‘The Map, The Compass, and The Guide’. In this message, Pastor Pat described 4 truths to remember when we think about how God speaks. First, the Bible is a God-breathed book written by 40 different people, guided by the Spirit, over a period of 1500 years and in 3 different continents. All of this to come together to tell one great story and to give us salvation! Second, God’s Word is like a map. If you want to hear God speak, read your Bible! Third, God’s Word is like a compass, preparing us for decision-making in life. God wants us to have faith and to depend on Him, knowing Him and His great love for us. Finally, God’s Spirit is our Guide. What could be better than Jesus beside us? Jesus with us! And through the Holy Spirit, He is always with us.

As we draw nearer to Easter walk in a new life with Christ. Jesus had every confidence in life after death as He said “I am the resurrection and the life.” Let your faith be strengthened by the mighty acts of Jesus. Take courage and confidence in the power of our God to overcome your fears. He is our hope.
We are continuing the collection of deodorant for the Samaritan Center. These donations will accumulate throughout the months of March and April. Your gifts may be placed on the shelves in the foyer.
Colorful hand braided jump ropes numbering 112 are on display in our foyer. What an excellent way to use old t-shirts! These will soon be delivered for use in Samaritan’s Purse Christmas Cheer boxes this winter. On April 30th volunteers will gather at 1:30 pm in Fellowship Hall for a “Pin & Pack” Day preparing the personal hygiene items for shipment and delivery. Over 350 items were assembled and sewn for the “Girls in Africa” project. Both of these mission projects are ways we connect with our world spreading the love of our Lord through our efforts.
On Easter Sunday the sanctuary will be decorated with a display of beautiful spring flowers. If you would like to make a monetary donation in honor or memory of a loved one, toward the purchase of these flowers, you may send it to the church office at 220 E. Franklin Street, Clinton, MO 64735. Please have your donation in no later than April 2nd so we may honor your loved one on our list published in the monthly Carillon and in our weekly bulletin insert.

“Who Then Can Be Saved”
God knew when he dealt with Adam what the year 2023 would be like. He knew what each year in the future would be like, and he knows what Revelations will bring.
As saints of God, we can’t allow Satan to get involved in our journey into heaven. Satan is working the churches. As Christians, we have to be strong to see past that.
Mark 12:28-31. (KJV)
The devil deceives people into believing it is easy to get into heaven. People believe all they have to do is believe in God and that will get you into heaven.
Luke 10:25-26. (KJV)
It is important to read God’s word and understand it. We can’t pick and choose the parts that we like. We must know all of what God’s word says. Furthermore, we must live according to his word. When we have the Holy Ghost, he will guide us in all truth
When Jesus spoke about it being hard for a rich man to enter heaven. He did not say a rich man couldn’t or wouldn’t enter heaven. Job was a rich man, so was Abraham.
Luk 10:27-28. (KJV)
The Lord says to show mercy to others. It doesn’t have to be someone you know. If we love the Lord with all our hearts them we must be doers of his word.
When God said the first should be last and the last, first. He was saying those who accepted him, the harlot and publican, were considered the least, but they believed in him and accepted him.
The Jews were God’s chosen people, but refused to believe. The gentiles also chose to believe. The last, shall be first. The first, last. He will give his the Jews a second chance.
Luk 13:24 Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. (KJV)
Strait: means difficult. Many people start off serving God, then fall into iniquity. If you don’t stay with God, will not make it into heaven. He is coming back for a church without spot or wrinkle. You cannot enter heaven with sin on you.
God Bless.

While traveling with the disciples, Jesus learned that his friend Lazarus was ill. When Jesus reached Lazarus’s hometown, he found Mary and Martha, Lazarus’s sisters. They gave him the sad news that their brother had died. Jesus wept.
The story reveals that God’s love and power were clearly shown when Jesus commanded Lazarus to “come out”. After days of being dead, Jesus lifted Lazarus from the grave and was alive again. Mary and Martha, along with the small group of people that were there, saw the powerful love that Jesus had for Lazarus.
Today we are reminded that the power and love of God is endless and has no boundaries. Jesus says for us to “come out” We may be stifling ourselves by something in our lives that limits us as individuals and stifles our growth.
Jesus says, “I am the life and the resurrection. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.” When we have faith in God, we need to say it, believe it and embrace it. This wonderful life story of Christ’s unending love and his offer of our salvation should be shared, over and over.

St. Paul’s will have a congregational reading of the Passion Story at the Palm Sunday service as we begin our journey with Jesus to the cross on Good Friday. Palm branches will be distributed. The resurrection of Jesus will be celebrated on Easter Sunday.

Everyone is seen as a precious child of God. We hope anyone interested in worshiping on these special days will feel welcome to join us.

Blessings warmed our hearts on this cool day as we gathered to worship the Lord. Clint Keeney rang the church bell. Mrs. Julia Klinefelter led in the congregational singing with Mrs. Dixie Collins playing piano. We rejoiced with Brenda Richeson and Daryl Soan on their birthdays. Randy Vogt and Clint Keeney collected the offering.
The scripture passage from Pastor Chad Pollett’s sermon was from John 7:14-24. In this passage Jesus went to the Feast of the Tabernacles halfway through to teach. The crowd was attacking His teaching because of His ordinary background. Jesus told them that if they chose to do God’s will they would understand that His teaching comes from God. Anyone who speaks on their own does so to honor themselves, not God. Jesus urged them to make the right judgment. In the world we live in today, we must discern who to follow by following the truth of the Gospel in the Bible. Be blessed by sharing the truth in love, kindness and respect to all we meet.
