CCA Celebrates Retirees

Clinton Christian Academy (CCA) honored instructors Roger Bancroft, Marcia Olson, Don Patterson and Karen Patterson in a special program held with all students (preschool-grade 12) and staff celebrating their retirement from many years of service in education on Thursday, May 25. Representative Jim Kalberloh attended the retirement celebration and presented each retiree a Resolution from the House of Representatives which applauded the career achievements of those individuals retiring from the field of education. A special slideshow featuring all four retirees was prepared by parent Wendee Seaton and featured photographs of the retirees with CCA students throughout the past years. Pastor Jeff Ferguson from Lowry City Baptist Church and former CCA parent led a prayer for CCA retirees at the conclusion of the program. A special cake decorated with the names of all employees leaving CCA was placed in the staff workroom for all employees to enjoy. Each employee leaving received a special gift from the employees as well.
Roger Bancroft served a total of 47 years in education during which time he served in a variety of roles throughout his career. Mr. Bancroft has served CCA for the last 16 years as a Junior High English Instructor, Girls Basketball Coach, Athletic Director, and Counselor. Additionally, Mr. Bancroft has been a School Psychological Examiner, Crisis Prevention Instructor, Boys Basketball Coach, Football Coach, and Track Coach. Roger Bancroft attends First Baptist Church in Clinton where he teaches an Adult Sunday School Class. Roger and his wife, Patty, have 5 children and 15 grandchildren.
Marcia Olson has served a total of 25 years in education with the last 16 years served at CCA as a Fourth Grade Teacher. Mrs. Olson has served as the leader of the CCA Social Committee. Some of Mrs. Olson’s favorite activities included Bible time and watching kids grow through discussion, sword drill, as well as goofy games and songs we sang or played to help students remember their facts. The fourth grade “Check Book” and “Fruits of the Spirit Tree” were great motivators for student behavior. Building bird houses and the Math Store were also class favorites. Mrs. Olson enjoys reading Christian literature (fiction and non-fiction), baking, swimming with the grandkids, and family get-togethers. Mrs. Olson is actively involved at First Baptist Church in Clinton. Marcia and her husband, Jay, have three children and four grandchildren.
Don Patterson has a served a total of 39 years in the ministry. Mr. Patterson has served CCA for the last 6 years as Fifth & Sixth Grade Teacher, Bible Teacher (grades 7-12) and Social Studies Teacher (grades 7-12). Mr. Paterson also currently serves as the Pastor of Tebo Baptist Church in Clinton. Prior to his move to Clinton, Mr. Patterson served at the Quartz Hill Community Church in Lancaster, California for 21 years as well as served as President & Professor of Bible Quartz Hill School of Theology and as Chaplain for the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department. Don and his wife, Karen, have two sons and one granddaughter.
Karen Patterson has served a total of 47 years in education. Mrs. Patterson has served at CCA for the last 8 years as a Preschool Teacher and Third Grade Teacher. Some of Mrs. Patterson’s favorite activities at CCA include leading preschool and kindergarten students in a Patriotic tribute song at a First Responders Honors Program as well as holding a Living Wax Museum with her third-grade students that was open to the public at the Henry County Museum with students dressing up as people from history and giving a four-paragraph memorized report. Prior to her move to Missouri, Mrs. Patterson was an elementary teacher at Desert Christian School in Lancaster, California. Throughout her career, Mrs. Patterson has sponsored 3-5 grade Contemporary Worship groups to lead weekly Chapel sessions, taught Cake Decorating, Quilting, Cooking in summer school classes, and leading seminars about Round Robin Teaching at ACSI Anaheim, CA. Karen and her husband, Don, have two sons and one granddaughter.
Clinton Christian Academy Board of Directors, staff and families wish to extend their heartfelt gratitude for the lives that have been changed by the ministry of Roger Bancroft, Marcia Olson, Don Patterson, and Karen Patterson. Many students have grown, developed and matured academically and spiritually due to the knowledge you have imparted to them and the prayers you have prayed.
