Care Connection Celebrating Senior Center Month

Posted

Care Connection for Aging Services is commemorating National Senior Center Month in September by inviting folks to experience its two locations in Henry County.
The Clinton Senior Center is open five days a week for lunch and activities for adults 60 and older and their caregivers; the Windsor Center is open four days a week for adults 60 and older.
The Clinton Senior Center serves a hot meal in its dining room at 970 E. Sedalia Ave from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The center is open 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The Windsor Senior Center at 201 S. Main is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with lunch served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The Clinton Senior Center will observe Falls Prevention Awareness Day and National Ice Cream Cone Day on Sept. 22, Good Neighbor Day on Sept. 26, and National Mulled Cider Day on Sept. 30.
Both centers offer fitness and recreation opportunities in person and online, as well as many volunteer opportunities. Henry is one of six counties where Care Connection operates the Retired Volunteer & Senior Program (RSVP) for adults 55 and older.
During the pandemic, Care Connection senior centers pivoted to provide online fitness activities, a practice that is continuing so that they can provide open more opportunities for people who cannot attend in person. “Exercise with Bobbie” is available live at the Clinton Senior Center regularly and streamed on Zoom for those who cannot make it into the center.
Through comprehensive care management, the Henry County senior centers provide benefits counseling, Medicare advice and enrollment assistance, and a host of other services.
During National Senior Center Month in September, Care Connection is celebrating the way in which its 21 locations strengthen community connections for older adults. Senior Center Month emphasizes the potential that senior centers deliver in their communities, including programming to help older adults to age well.
