Last month, Deputy Michael West, serving as the School Resource Officer for Henry R-1 District, and Major Rob Hills, Chief Deputy, achieved certifications as School Safety Specialists. This recognition follows their successful completion of the School Safety Academy organized by the Missouri School Board Association in Columbia, Missouri.
The comprehensive curriculum covered essential topics such as effective communication, mental health awareness, emergency response planning, and legal considerations. The certification equips Deputy West and Major Hills to enhance school security measures and conduct regular safety assessments within their districts.
Joined by representatives from neighboring districts, including Clinton, Leesville, and Montrose, Deputy West and Major Hills engaged with faculty members at Henry R-1 School District today to discuss safety concerns and initiate a review of the district’s emergency operations plan.
