Clinton Christian Academy Begins New Program

Posted

Clinton Christian Academy (CCA), currently in its 23rd year of operation, has experienced a huge amount of growth in enrollment in recent years. Traditionally a K-8 school, the expansion to include high school grades 9-12 has led to opportunities to gradually expand our course offerings and extra-curricular programs for students in our upper school (grades 6-12). A recent addition to our program options is a new “Strength & Conditioning” course offered this summer for students in grades 6-12. The Strength & Conditioning course is led by David Batschelett with the help of Gerad Wombles. Batschelett, a Clinton native, has Athletics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) Certification with extensive experience as a group fitness instructor.
Upper school students in grades 6-12 have the option of participating in the new Strength and Conditioning program four days per week this summer and will continue to be offered during the school year. The primary goals of the program are to get kids faster and stronger, more flexible and more injury resistant. Instruction is focused on a variety of exercises including lower body workouts, upper body workouts, cardio workouts and flexibility work. The ultimate goal as the strength & conditioning program develops is that students will be able to compete in some weight lifting competitions later in the school year.
The Strength & Conditioning program is currently held in the gym, with the desire to build a weight room sometime in the future when the Lord provides. As with any new program, CCA is currently gathering supplies/equipment to be utilized with this new course. The following supplies/equipment would be helpful in facilitating this new course: pull up bar, plyometric boxes, jump ropes, yoga/stretching mats, resistance bands, medicine balls, dumbbells, kettlebells, benches, squat/power rack, Olympic bar, Olympic trap bar, and Olympic weights. Anyone who is interested in making financial donations or donations of fitness equipment should contact Dave Batschelett at (314) 584-0555 or email Dave at dbats1969@gmail.com.
