On Tuesday, May 2nd, four Clinton Christian Academy seniors, along with two chaperones (Becky Hyke and Casey Higgins), took off to Statesboro, Georgia. The main focus of this trip was to spread the word of God. The seniors handed out tracts on River Street in Savannah, Georgia. In the tracts was information about our school and our mission. The tract explained that mankind are sinners and that we must repent and have a relationship with the Lord in order to be saved. The seniors also collected donated items from the CCA school families and created homeless kits for distribution to individuals that needed them. Seniors and chaperones passed the kits out all throughout the trip.
While in Georgia the seniors participated in several acts of service. On Wednesday, the seniors worked in a food pantry supported by Christian Social Ministries. Christian Social Ministries (CSM) is run by John Long. Mr. Long is the father of CCA’s Upper School Principal, Becky Hyke. CSM supports a food pantry, furniture store, thrift store and many other ministries. The CCA seniors packed over 150 sacks with non-perishable food items while serving with CSM. The food pantry distributes bags every Monday free of charge while always offering to pray for those who come.
The seniors and chaperones also worked for Fostering Bulloch at the 7th Mile Ranch in Statesboro, Georgia. Fostering Bulloch has many ministry opportunities, such as holding summer camps for foster children in hopes of finding a loving family for them. CCA seniors served at the 7th Mile Farm (Fostering Bulloch) in various ways including dismantling an old car, and painting a checkerboard design on the top of a school bus. This school bus and old car will be used at the summer camps and in local parades. Aside from service projects, the seniors spent time on River Street in Savannah, GA and Tybee Island.
On the final leg of their seven day trip, the seniors traveled to Benton, Tennessee and stayed for two nights where they white water rafted, kayaked, and paddle boarded on Lake Ocoee. Seniors worked hard raising money all year long in order to have this special trip together in which to serve. Senior Audrey Higgins shared, “Even though we had to work hard on our trip, it was fun and we got to fellowship with everybody!” Senior Devoney Conner stated, “It was a very informative and fun trip!”. Upper School Principal, Becky Hyke, knew God had used this trip in a very special way when she asked the senior girls what they would advise next year’s seniors regarding their plans for next year’s trip and their immediate response was “Next year’s seniors should do the exact same thing!”
