THE HOUNDS: The Windsor Greyhounds had a great season going into the State Tournament with a 21-2 record. They had lost only to Versailles and Adrian during the regular season. The Hounds took on the 17-6 Lone Jack Mules at Schell Sports Complex in Windsor on Monday, May 24. It was a Class 2 sectional game. Things got off to a rough start when the Mules went up 3-0 after the first, using three walks and timely hits. The score stayed 3-0 until the seventh inning when Lone Jack added a run to make it 4-0. The Hounds could not answer and lost, ending their season. Dylan Witherspoon started on the mound for the Hounds and got late relief help from Dalton Witherspoon. Coach Brad Forrest and the whole community is proud of the team (many of which had won the State Class 1 Football Title last fall). The Windsor Greyhounds last won their district baseball title in 2011. The Mules’ Gaven Mooney got the win for his team. The Mules have won district titles in 2009, ‘19 and ‘21. The Mules will now play East Buchanan at Lone Jack on May 26 in the quarterfinal round.
