This I Remember

David Lee: “It was 1985 and I was sitting with friends in the Student Union at CMSU. I had returned from watching the Royals lose game two of the I-70 World Series the day before. A guy walked up to us and asked if we were Royals fans. He tossed us a newspaper and said, ‘Read-It and Weep.’ I can still see his face. You may remember the Royals came back from a 0-2 start in 1985 and won the series 4-3. I can remember most every detail of the series. For example, I was working part-time at KDKD and as I was working I listened to Game #7 at the station all by myself. That was weird because my friends were partying all over Warrensburg. I was really both a Royals and Cardinals fan so the series is still frozen in my brain. I can’t remember who my friends were that were sitting with me in the Student Union but I can still see the face of the guy that came up to us and said, ‘Read-It and Weep’. Funny how memories work.”
