This I Remember...

Gene Reid: “Both my son (Jim) and daughter Anjie were good athletes and of course my wife Jan and I went to a lot of our grandchildren’s games. Our daughter even played volleyball for the William Jewell Cardinals. But personally what comes to mind for a “Sports Memory” is my Principal days (1983-1998). The Friday night football games. I worked all week making sure everything was in order. PA systems, referees hired, field mowed and lined, etc. Plus running the school, so when it all came together and the game started it was a great feeling. Plus, we had strong teams under the tutelage of Gladden Dye and Bob Endy. In other words we won a lot and of course that makes it more fun. So, after a very busy week, the lights came on, the stands filled up and the Cardinals played and played well. I will always remember those days.”
