Appleton City Pool is open 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. daily, weather permitting. Pool passes are available at City Hall or AC Pool during regular business hours. For more information, call City Hall at 660-476-2631. Pool passes are $50 for 1 and $15 for each additional family member.
The Appleton City Middle School FBLA community service team will be competing at Nationals in Chicago from June the 28 to July 2. To help with the expenses, they are having a few fundraisers. The team is selling Krispy Kreme donuts from now until June 5. The orders will be delivered on June 10. You can contact Mallory and/or April Cole, Alexis and/or Charli Carr or Kaylee Mangin to order them. Your support is appreciated. Any help and donations are appreciated as well.
The Knights of Columbus will have their monthly pancake and sausage breakfast at the Knight’s Hall in Montrose on Sunday, June 12 from 8:30 – 10:00 a.m. Treat your family to a hot breakfast you don’t have to cook or clean up. A free will donation will be greatly appreciated
The Appleton City Museum, 503 N. Maple, one block north of caution light, is open for its 19th summer season. Visiting hours are from 1:30-4:30 every Friday afternoon and the first Saturday of each month May through September. They hope you will make the museum a place to visit this year. Encourage children, family members and friends to step back into time at the Appleton City Museum.

A summer kid’s event, “Monumental VBS”, will be hosted at First Baptist Church of AC June 21-24. Monumental is for kids 5 years old through those that have completed 4th grade. They will start with a meal at 5:30 and conclude at 8:30 p.m. each evening. Family members and friends can join in daily at 8:15 p.m. as they wrap up their day. They also invite families to church on Sunday June 26 for the finale and a meal following services. Five area churches are teaming together to present a community VBS 6:00-8:00 p.m. each evening July 18-22. All kids ages 3 years- 6th grade are invited to join them as they learn how to pray. (Children must be potty-trained to attend). Each church will host an evening: Trinity UMC - Monday, Rockville UMC - Tuesday, Church of God - Wednesday, River of Life - Thursday, Christian Church - Friday. Transportation is available. The Appleton City Car Show will be Saturday, July 9 at the City Park. Registration starts at 8:00 a.m.. There will be food available. Local organizations will be offering biscuits and gravy during the early morning, followed by ice cream and cobbler closer to noon time. Also the local Optimist Club will have food inside the brick building.
This summer, MU Extension will hold two free conferences on native grass management: July 12 at the MU Southwest Research, Extension and Education Center near Mount Vernon and July 14 near Linneus at Cornett Farm, part of the MU Northern Missouri Research, Extension and Education Center. The conferences are being held in partnership with the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) and the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). Topics include managing native grasses for grazing and haying, updated economic budgets that producers will find useful, cost-share opportunities and the conservation benefits of native grasses. There is no registration fee and lunch will be provided, but participants need to register for either program at bit.ly/3yPfX4n.
