Hold on to your cowboy hats; a rodeo blew through town over the weekend!
Friday, June 10 and Saturday, June 11 the Henry County Fairgrounds Arena held the 2nd annual Rodeo Gold Productions Rodeo. Rodeo Gold Productions is based out of Louisburg, Kansas and has been the host of the Clinton Rodeo for the past 2 years. The rodeo has held events such as steer wrestling, calf roping, saddle broncs, breakaways and team roping. The event also includes fan favorite events like bull riding, barrel racing, bareback riding, and mutton busting for the little ones.
The livestock for all of the events is provided by Rodeo Gold Productions. Rodeo Gold Productions benefits from hosting the rodeo annually. They are an LLC and the event provides revenue as well as provides the possibility of potential future events in neighboring towns due to word of mouth. The rodeo also benefits the tourism revenue and local businesses in Clinton by drawing in crowds who are going to want to spend money as well as take notice of the rodeo sponsors.
David Lee, from the Chamber of Commerce stated that he was impressed with this years turnout and he noticed that “there was a bigger attendance than there was last year and it seems like a lot more contestants for each of the events which made it more exciting”.
David also reported that “Clinton Tourism plays a very big part in the rodeo and donates quite a bit for the rodeo to go into advertising to draw bigger crowds in.”
