Proceeded in death by her biological parents Loyd & Lillian Mullins, older sibling Mary Mullins, and Sister-In-Law Cathy Arnold.
A Memorial Service will be at Consalus Funeral Home. 209 S. 2nd Street, Clinton, MO. 64735, on Monday, September 21, 2022, at 11:00 AM.
Mickey came to her parents in a nontraditional way but was loved in a very traditional way. She was a toddler when her biological mother passed away and was adopted by Ray & Loyella Arnold. Mickey was the first of four children of that home; she was fiercely independent and massively protective of her younger siblings. Early on she showed a love for art and collecting. She collected things like most people, but also valued and collected experiences and friendships along the way.
Mickey made fast friends whenever meeting a new person. She was happiest when she had people nearby. She loved singing. When she attended William Chrisman High School, she joined the school choir and loved it. Singing was a passion, and it made her proud to be a part of such a special group.
Mickey graduated in 1974 and went on to start her career path at a local diner in Sugar Creek, Missouri, Mattie’s Diner. It was more than a job; it was a place that she loved to be. She would come in and hang out even when not on the schedule. When she was working, she truly enjoyed what she was doing and it showed, as customers lined up to visit her as she served and chatted with guests that became more friend than customer to her.
Mickey & Darrell enjoyed living the small-town life. They lived in several communities in the area including Appleton City, and Adrian, before settling in at Montrose. She continued to cook at small town diners wherever she found the opportunity to be part of the community and serve.
Mickey loved a good thrift store, another man’s junk was indeed an opportunity for treasure. Her motto when leaving the house for thrifting or garage selling was to always have 1’s, & 5’s and quarters ready for the potential deals. She was a collector of pigs of any kind; wood, ceramic, coconut, pigs with wings, any pig was worthy of the collection. She also loved to collect brass items, bells, animals, candle holders, wall plaques, baby shoes, extra bonus If it was a brass pig.
Mickey loved camping, although that was only if her camper had a bathroom. Mickey & Darrell enjoyed fishing but for the catch and release. She always had her life jacket and rubber boat ready to go out on the water. It was never about the fishing; it was more about the experience spending time with her friends, family and especially kids in her life. She also loved gardening. She was so proud of her flowers and equally proud of her vibrant and over the top yard art, that made her smile every time she looked at it.
Mickey was a giver of her art and her love. She loved to paint, she started very young in childhood with those paint by number kits, moving on into full fledged crafting and gift giving. Sometimes the gift might seem a bit odd, but they came from the heart, and she always put her full thought into it, making the eyes blue if yours were blue, just so you knew it was made intentionally with you in mind.
Mickey passed at sunset and she had a beautiful send off from the natural world as she gained her angel wings. The sky had lovely shades of oranges and yellows painted just for Mickey as she was welcomed into her next chapter. Mickey was loved and will be missed by all she knew, the friends that were family and family that were friends.
