CONRAD H. HENLEY
Conrad Harris “Connie” Henley, 93, of Pleasant Hill, was born March 27, 1929 in Pleasant Hill, the son of Fielding Belt and Fredda (Harris) Henley. He departed this life Sunday May 29, 2022 at his home in the country near Pleasant Hill.
Connie grew up in Pleasant Hill graduating from Pleasant Hill High School in 1947. He attended Missouri University at Columbia for one year before being called into service where after basic training, he was given a year of Army Engineer OCS training. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant at Fort Belvoir, Virginia and was sent to Korea where he and his crew were assigned to the Air Force building airfields.
When he returned from Korea he met Edith Mae Vansandt and on May 21, 1954 they were united in marriage in Archie, Missouri. To this union two sons, Allen Conrad and Eric Martin were born.
Following the death of both his parents in 1956 Connie applied for the Missouri State Highway Patrol and began training in 1958. He served with the Patrol for 31 years living in Clinton, Windsor, Harrisonville, and Lee’s Summit, retiring on April 1, 1989. Following retirement, he and Edith bought their present home in southern Jackson County where they have resided for the last 29 years.
He enjoyed working on his farm and was a gifted carpenter who was also very adept at concrete work, plumbing, and electrical. He was an inveterate photographer and usually had a camera nearby. He was a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W. Post #3118 in Pleasant Hill.
Connie was also preceded in death by his son, Allen Henley; his sister, Barbara Clay Blackburn; and his brother, Norman Henley.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Edith of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Marymae Henley of West Orange, New Jersey; two grandsons, Logan Henley of West Orange, New Jersey, and Ethan Henley of New York City; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Cremation has been accorded.
A memorial service was held Monday June 6, 2022 at the funeral home. Reverend D. Kent Deubner officiated. A Final Salute was rendered by Mr. Ron Beatty and the V.F.W. Post #3118 membership.
Graveside military services and inurnment followed at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery with full military honors by the United States Army and the V.F.W. Post #3118 Honor Guard.

Donald Thomas (Tom) Wilson
Donald Thomas (Tom) Wilson was born September 24, 1942 in Clearfield, Pennsylvania, the son of John R. Wilson and Dorothy Jane (McCorkle) Wilson. He married Linda R. Tillman on February 18, 1967, joining the community as “Carl Tillman’s son-in-law”. Linda survives of the home. John, his son of Parkville, MO survives him as well as his daughter-in-law, Amy, and grandsons Jonathan and Max of Parkville, MO.
Tom was born and grew up in Clearfield, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Clearfield High School and Williamsport Technical Institute in 1962. He came to Clinton and began working at Clearfield Cheese later in the Fall of 1962. Later, the cheese company sent him to Los Angeles to work for 1963 and 1964. He returned to Pennsylvania to store his belongings and enlisted in the Army Reserve in 1964. He completed Basic Training at Fort Knox, Kentucky and was then back to the Golden Valley and the cheese company. In 1965 he began employment as a plant helper with the Montrose Power Plant of Kansas City Power & Light. He was in operations and then an apprentice mechanic, journeyman mechanic and safety coordinator. He served on the Apprenticeship Training Committee. He retired from the Montrose plant in 2002 after 37 years of service. He also served on the Executive Board of Local 412 of the IBEW.
Tom and Linda moved to Urich in 1973. Tom and Linda purchased a farm and lived there for the remainder of his life. Tom was involved in the community and served when and where he could. He was always available and willing to help anyone in need.
Tom was a member of the Clinton Masonic Lodge, #548, Scottish Rite Bodies and the Ararat Shrine Club. He served two terms as a Sherwood Cass R-VIII School Board member, the Henry County Public Water District Board #4, the Urich Restoration Corporation, and the Henry County Economic Development Council. He was also a member of the Clinton United Methodist Church and the Lucas Men’s Club.
Tom dearly loved this community and never wanted leave. He loved the people, the power plant, the farm, his dog Maddie (who rode right beside him in his truck), and his black angus cattle.
As a final offering to help another someone, Tom was able to donate his liver to a younger Midwest man in need.

A Celebration of Life will be Friday, June 24, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. followed by food, fellowship and socializing at the Clinton Elks Lodge, 115 West Franklin Street, Clinton, Mo 64735. Vera L. Graham
On June 6th 2022, Our Mother, Vera L. Graham, age (82), of Clinton, MO went to be with the Lord. This Angel on Earth was welcomed to Heaven with open arms. She was preceded by her Father, Samuel Fares; Mother, Edith Fares; Brothers, Walt, Charlie, Al; and Sister, Mary.
In all aspects of her life, she was a giver and caretaker. Our Mother never complained about anything except occasionally the wind and rain, because it would mess up her hair. She had an open-door policy and always had room at her table for anyone. With the smell of fresh coffee and sweet treats to snack on. Vera always put everyone before herself. She loved her family dearly; Her children, grandchildren, and especially her great-grandchildren. No birthday or holiday went by without a warm blessing from her. Her life was dedicated to caring for people through her many years of service. Many years of home daycare, next onto the Health Dept, and finally with volunteering at the Samaritan Center. If you knew our mother, you were as blessed as we were.
“Dear God, we gratefully thank you for giving us our mom, because you gave us the best you had. Watch over her and bless her Lord, and keep her in your care. And may she feel our love for her in our humble prayer. May you rest in peace. “
She is survived by her Brother, John (Annette); Sisters, Darlene, Jean, & Tilly; Sons, David, Steven, Scott, and John (Heather); Daughter, Kathy; Grandkids, Joseph (Chelsie), Scott, Devon, Jessica, Kaitlin (Lee), Anna (Aaron), Sydney, and Tera; Great Grandchildren, Kauffman, Hudson, Dawson, Milo, Maklin, Parker, Micah, Charlie Jo, Trinity, & Lily.
There will be a Celebration of Vera’s life on Saturday, June 18th from 2-4pm. It will be held at Christian Church, 1201 E Ohio Clinton, Mo.
Michael Eugene Mitchell
Michael Eugene Mitchell, age 68, passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at his home in Clinton, Missouri.
Michael Eugene Mitchell was born in Kansas City, Missouri on June 3, 1953 the son of Eldon and Bert Mitchell.
Michael graduated High School from Montrose, Missouri then spent four years in the Air Force working on missile sites. He started working for United Telephone in 1979, after 36 years he retired from CenturyLink.
Michael was married to Jenny (Cook) for 44 years. And to this union had two children his son Travis Mitchell and daughter Angie Mitchell.
He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and golfing.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Eldon and Bert Mitchell.
Survivors include his wife Jenny, Son Travis (Shannon) Mitchell, and daughter Angie Mitchell, two grandsons, Oliver and Bodhi Mitchell, two sisters; Carol Phillips and Teresa (Bill) Hoy and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held June 2, 2022 at the Vansant-Mills Chapel, Clinton with Deacon Steve Carter officiating. Special music included "Unchained Melody, Wind Beneath My WIngs and House of the Rising Sun."
Services were under the direction of Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton, Missouri.
Joe J. Weeks
Joe J. Weeks of Chilhowee Mo departed this life on May 22, 2022 at the Warrensburg Veterans Home at the age of 82 years, 2 months, and 19 days. Joe was born March 8, 1940 to John R. Weeks and Mary E. Weeks. He is survived by his wife Luann of Chilhowee. His daughters Anita E. Gagle of Katy, TX and Andrea E. Dixon of Kingwood, TX, 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Mary Carr, brother Charles Weeks and nephew John Carr. Joe joined the Marine Corps in 1960. Served in Vietnam, Retired as a 1st Sgt in 1980. He raised cattle, horses and mules in the Chilhowee area for over 20 years. He will be remembered as a storyteller and was always ready to go horseback riding. A celebration of life will be held at 11AM July 16, 2022 at Shawnee R-3 School. Military hours at 11AM. Followed by a potluck luncheon with time afterwards to celebrate his life. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Shawnee R3 School, 1193 MO 13, Chilhowee, MO 64733 for their playground fund.
Peggy Ann Motley
Peggy Ann Motley, age 86, passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Adair Village in Clinton, Missouri.
Peggy Ann Motley was born on July 2, 1935 in Henry County Missouri to John and Marjorie (Goucher) Parks.
Peggy is preceded in death by her parents John and Marjorie Parks, three children, Mic Motley, Dana Morse, and Stella Bley.
She is survived by her four children, Rick Motley, Mike Motley, Kay Johnson, and Michael Morse, several grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held June 3, 2022 at the Vansant-Mills Chapel, Clinton with Rev. Cheryl Castilow officiating. Special music included "Hole in the Floor of Heaven." Interment followed in Parks Chapel, Clinton, Missouri.
